Youknow, I don't even know what the Yom Kippur War was, though I've probably "heard of it often. I have started another book, Da ys of Infamy, by Newt Gingrich and another, about war in the South Pacific, or Pacific, Pearl Harbor and followings. Bernal has Darkroom Soldiers, by his friend since babyhood, about adventures as photographers and, especially, developers of pictures. The opposite pages are letters from Fred (Hill) to his wife at that time in Tacoma. The book is being considered for honors. I'd say the settings are in South Pacific. Y ou can see that when you come in the summer! Glad you could be with Jenni's family. We love you both. G & G1

Dear Mark, so good to have you for a friend! I just read a new book--and Bernal read half of it too. A really different choice for me! Seabiscuit, by Laura Hillenbrand. I don't know much about horses, but this just kept drawing me on--so well written, Four main characters, SB, his owner, his trainer, and his jockey.. I found the book in a free place, and really like it. One drawing card was that I once really saw Seabiscuit, in his retirement in California. My dad actually drove aways out of the highway to see him. Also, the places mentioned are familiar from our journey to California to be married, 63 years ago!
