For as long as I can remember, I have loved reading. As a child, I used to ask Santa for books instead of toys! My favorite author is Jane Austen, and my favorite book is a toss up between "Pride & Prejudice" and "Gone With the Wind". I have very diverse taste in books. I read everything from the Classics to Oprah's picks, British Chick Lit, Historical Biographies, Victorian Murder Mysteries, Contemporary American Novels. I like the occasional Romance Novel and Autobiography, and I love Southern (USA) authors. Since I am a history buff, I have to say my favorite genre is Historical Fiction. The only genre that does not appeal to me personally is science fiction. I do enjoy some time-travel (Diana Gabaldon), and "horror" (Anne Rice). And, I always love a good ghost story ! My favorite contemporary authors are: Anita Shreve, Adriana Trigiani, Jane Green, Alice Hoffman, Dorothea Benton Frank, Pat Conroy, Penny Vincenzi, Anne Tyler, Elizabeth Berg and Jodi Picoult. I am also a big fan of Tracy Chevalier, Philippa Gregory and Anne Perry. I am trying to read as many books as I can from the list of 1001 Books to Read Before You Die. Hopefully, I will have plenty of time !
