I love to see what other people are reading and challenge myself to read books that expand my understanding. I love book stores, libraries, and book lists. I am a speech and language pathologist who works with young children.

If you found Still Alice interesting, you might be intrigued by The Bird House (Simon & Schuster) which the Library Journal called “a great title for book clubs, and especially fans of Lisa Genova’s Still Alice.”

Thanks so much – happy to connect on Shelfari if you’re up for it.

Yes, at least I contributed something to Book Club: I did pick "The Help." I really enjoyed it, partly because of my growing up experiences with Mary Lou going to high school in Atlantic and living with us. Interesting that we're going to read Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I hope I still have my copy. I will look downstairs in the morning. Thanks for all the info, Mari. Love, Marcia

Did you get to Book Club yesterday? What book is next for our group---in case I ever get there again?!! Good to see you back on Shelfari, Mari.

i finally got in gear to sign on! So, weh in Book Club?"

How is it going for you? Do you have a long weekend? Sioux Falls Schools are off now until Tuesday.
We plan to go to Aberdeen Saturday for Marcey's birthday, and will return Sunday.
    Take care!

Just to be sure: is Book Club this Saturday or next Saturday? I still haven't read Old Jules, but maybe I'll get after it now.

Since there is one home football game remaining, Nov. 21--next weekend--my guess is that is when the next Book Club is. I'll decide when I know what time the game is, but I wish it was this Saturday. Would love to see you soon, Marcia

You know, Mari, I really don't think that did happen; but I think she is reading the book, and I know she gave up on Pillars. I'd better send her a quick email and ask her. But Book Club is in another week, isn't it? And this is a quick read, so anyone who wanted to could get it read.

Now that I have caught up with Book Club books, I can finish Cloris and start on my long list of "intentions." Sure was a lovely day today, and here I was indoors working all day; just like you!

I just finished reading "Skeletons at the Feast." It was so well-written that I couldn't put it down - even on vacation!

I can't have any fun posting new books, etc. I have to finish this TOME!! But I'm half through now, so things are looking up!

Thanks for the well-wishes! We went out for dinner in Sioux Falls, and I guess that is the extent of our celebrating! We will fly to Paris and waltz in Vienna in our imaginations!

Have you read Garden Spells? I read Sugar Queen based on your shelf and decided to try Garden Spells since I liked Sugar Queen so much. It was so good I read the entire book yesterday. (I don't usually do this!) :)

Almost finished with People of the Book. Too many changing stories for me; so it's interesting to me that it is one of the finalists for One Book One Lincoln. But the NRBC has a great track record for picking the best/most popular/whichever!!

Also, I got invitations sent to Kathy and Kathleen, but that's all I have on my Friends list from BC. So if you have Darla or anyone else, please send invitations also. Are you through with school or teaching summer school, or both?

Please do, as I have failed at figuring out how to add books to the group shelf. I tried to add the Ken Follet book also and did something wrong. Please put whatever you want on the shelf, since I'm still "dundering!"
