You will like FountainHead ,if you are like idealistic books. It is really intense debate between different personas carrying different philosophies.

Artistically,I love the style it has written with. Its like you are watching the movie infront of yourself.

You need to be either skeptical or very very very practical person who does not fall into characters to read this book!!

Depends on your taste, read fountainhead first. You will be in a better position to decide whether to read atlas shrigged or not. Fountainhead is about an individual with different principles who will never sacrifice on his integrity and is quite ignorant about how rest of the world operates and atlas shrugged is about such people's relation with society and world as a whole. No matter what read Fountinhead first. Once you read books like Fountainhead you may never return to Sidney sheldonS ...

This is the first book I read from which I started my reading habit. This is one of the best books I have ever read. But whether you like it or not, it will depend it on yu own taste.

To counterpoint everyone who says "Read The Fountainhead first", I haven't read The Fountainhead but I loved Atlas Shrugged. I don't entirely agree with Ayn Rand's philosophy (Adam Smith and Abraham Lincoln are more to my tastes), but she writes a dramatic and intellectually intense novel. I've never known a novel to so fully describe a moral philosophy, which is admirable enough even though I don't always agree with it. Plus the setting, the author's future but our past, makes for a great steampunk, alternate history feel to the science fiction elements.

Atlas Shrugged is the first book that I stopped reading midway. I leave you to draw your own conclusions from that.

I really, absolutely LOVED it- one of my top favorites. I liked the grit and turmoil the characters go through to emerge victorious and the epic struggle between good and evil. The book is about how steely you are in an industrial world.

Pretty thick at about 1100 page, need a lot patience !!

    Njoy!

Read Fountainhead first. Then U'll know if u want to rad Atlas shrugged. Of all the books by Ayn Rand, Fountainhead is a must and first read.

Ayn Rand has an altogether different and quite inspiring philosophy. Writing style of the author is also very captivating.

Atlas Shrugged is a thought provoking book. However, its pretty thick. If you are sure you want to read that, go for it.

Seems you havn't read other Rand books too. You can go for Fountain Head. If you get hooked to Ayn Rand's philosophy (which is highly probable)apart from the Architectural value, go for Atlas Shrugged too.
