Nice to meet you Maisy! There's nothing like being greeted by one of your furry friends when you come in the door. Books are another love of mine and I try to read everyday as well. Keep me in mind if you ever run across an exceptional book!

I looked up your recommendations on Amazon, and the Ann Bartlett book looks really good as does Joe Coomer. I'll have to check some of his out as well. I'm sorry about your mom. We moved my grandparents closer to us a little over a year ago so it would be easier on my mom who's been taking care of them. I know it's been hard on her seeing the changes in them and how quickly they're happening. I have to admit the stuff I'm ready currently is definitely lighter in nature. I tend to gravitate to quick and lighthearted with my books when life gets a little too overwhelming. I just finished "High Tea" by Sandra Harper. It's about a woman who owns a tea shop in LA and revloves around her and her three employees and their lives. I would definitely label it cute and quick, but good if you're looking for that. Currently I'm reading the "Silver Compass" by Holly Kennedy. It's not quite what I expected, but so far it's pretty good. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Good morning, Maisy. How are you enjoying Shelfari? I recieved your request for friends a little while ago. I like to limit my friends to people I actually know, so I would just like to verify how you came across my shelfari page please?

I actually haven't heard of most of the books you mentioned. I'll have to go check them out. I have a dog too, in addition to my two cats. Or rather, I should say the dog is my mom's/the family dog. I moved back home with my two cats, much to everyone's chagrin. :-) They're not too keen on the dog, but they love all the wildlife in the backyard. I was living in the city, so there wasn't much in the window viewing department for them. They really love the sliding door onto suburbia, though. I work in the production department of a medical publisher, creating the layouts for their journals and keeping everything on schedule. It'll be fun to keep swapping book titles; although, I have a feeling you're probably better read than I am. As you can see from my shelves here, my "to read" list is miles long, and I never seem to have enough time to get through them as fast as I'd like. I just re-read this,a dn realized it's really scattered, sorry! It's been a long week!

Thanks, aren't they cute? :-) It does look like we share taste in books. I know exactly what you mean about the vampire genre really taking over. What have I read recently that I really liked... Middlesex was unusual but very entertaining. I don't know if you're into audio books, I'll sometimes listen to them when I go for a walk. Usually they're nothing special, but the reader of Middlesex almost made it sound like an old time radio show, with different voices for each character. I really liked it. Also, The Thirteenth Tale. A little more gothic than I usually go for. But the ending is nothing like what you'd guess, and the whole story was very intriging.
What about you? What have you read lately that you've really enjoyed? Most of what's on your shelf I've already read, except Ahabs Wife, but it's on my "to read" list (my miles an miles long to read list!)
