hi main, thanks for the nice words about my shelf! and thanks for your shelf, i found a book there that i read many years ago and had fogotten to put in on my shelf. many lives, many masters. as to philosophy books, i kind of come at great books backwards, i read them for a good story and absorb whatever philosophy there is on a subconcious level. I would say Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Lewis Carroll, and William Faulkner, as well as Toni Morrison have all greatly impacted my philosophy, as have the teachings of Jesus in the new testament (though I am not religious at all and certainly only consider myself a Christian, culturally) Many lives, many masters did impact my thinking, but only to open up to the possibility that many different things are unexplained. i almost never read non fiction, as you can see from my shelf. Where are you from? you have a small but interesting mix of pop lit and movie tie in books and a couple of really interesting books. are you new to English, or young, or just not read a lot, or just havent put many books up yet? any way it is fine. do not feel you have to pad your shelves with books you have not read. if you have access to a library, or used bookstores, you can find real treasures. check out my favorites list, as to philosophy, you might enjoy GRaham Greene, also the bridge over san luis rey, and all quiet on the western front. you might also enjoy vs naipaul's book, as well as the heart of darkness, also check out his lord jim. i love gloria naylor, barbara kingsolver just for the fun of reading, and yes there is a little philosophy buried there.
