I love to read! I started a book club at the local library 7 years ago and I have a web page that is devoted to my reading group and passion. I belong to an on-line reading group and I have picked up some great books and authors from this fun bunch. "The Novel Ladies"

Thanks so much for accepting my friend request. While I have you here, I was wondering . . . would you be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Dena -- was it you the recommended the God of Animals? I just finished it and thought it was excellent. I cried my eyes out. I have to miss the discussion tomorrow for a meeting in Blair -- so bummed because I really wanted to discuss the author. Loved the character depiction -- they were all very real to me. The horse parts were heartbreaking. Anyway, thought I 'd tell you thanks for the recommendation!

Cool -- you're a journalist! I'm a banker, and an aspiring writer...I'm an English major from way back and decided a few years ago to do more writing since I've always enjoyed it. I blog quite a bit and have self-published a few books. shhh. They're my practice novels. I just finished a fiction writing class to start on my third novel. Anyway, June 9 is the next date. Hope to see you then -- or maybe I'll catch you at the library!

btw just finished diary of wimpy kid (1st one) last night with my son.

Who do you work for? It was a pretty good discussion -- did you finish the book? Almost all agreed that it started a little slow, but ended up being pretty good. Next book is either Edgar Sawtelle or Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. Read either of those?

I loved the Glass Castle, and Lovely Bones is here on the bookshelf but it seems like I'm always reading something else. Because everytime I go to the library to return a book I never leave empty handed. I have a hard time sleeping also, but the husband would have a hissy fit If I turned on the light in the middle of the night. I try to get through the errands on the weekend as fast as I can and also the house cleaning so I have more time to read. But with lesson plans to write and making sure I have the materials for my lessons take up alot of time. I'm hoping to have more reading time during spring break. One quick question do you own all those books? I have quite a few here also but mostly are cheap finds from the library book sales.

Yes I have read every Kate Shugak book. SHe also has another series she started with an Alaskan state trooper that I like. SHe has written some others that don't particularly interest me. But I like reading about life in Alaska and the local people. Have you ever tried Tony Hillerman's books? He is a mystery writer who writes about the Indian locals in Arizona.

Oh yes, I read Joanne Fluke, too. I wish Hannah would just decide once and for all between Mike and Norman.

Have you read Jerrilyn Farmer? Her character's name is Madeline Beane, and she owns and operates Mad Beane Catering and Events.

Another of my very favorites is an author named Babara Colley. Her character Charlotte is a senior citizen who owns and operates a maid service in New Orleans. Charlotte is a very smart lady who wants to run a tight business but she keeps encountering dead bodies, maybe one or two per book. She is a single lady who has a little crush on the retired cop. Anyway, I love the Maid For Murder series by Babara Colley.

Thanks for getting back to me so very quickly.

So how do you like Diane Mott Davidson? I have read every book by her. I can't wait for the next book in the Goldy Schultz series.
