Infinitely better than the novel which (unfortunately) shares the same name, Starship troopers is a brilliant novel exploring ideas such as the role of the individual in society, the appropriate use of force, and the responsibility that comes with freedom. Of course, it's also a great adventure story. Easily one of my favorite books of all time.

One of my favorite books. I'm currently reading it with my daughter, and she's enjoying it immensely. While the elements of the story are familiar to fans of epic fantasy, it's the characters that make this a book that I love to come back to. An easy, quick read, first of five books (ten if you count The Mallorean).

  • An Inconvenient Book: Real Solutions to the World's Biggest Problems

An honestly funny look at some of today's biggest problems, ranging from small inconveniences (tipping at restaurants, agreeing with your date/spouse on what to rent from the video store) to huge issues (global warming, our country's addiction to foreign oil, and political correctness). You may not agree with his solutions, but he brings a clear eye, a unique perspective, and a sense of humor to some of the biggest issues facing us today. Highly recommended, (if you can find it).
