Co-den leader for 4 years in cub scouts and main leader for the girl scout troop for 4 years with a 2 year overlap. Our son earned the Arrow of Light and then slowly petered out by the 11th grade (so 10 years). Our daughter was still enthusiastic but our troop died out (so 9 years).
My days with the scouts are over :D My husband and I used to be very active in both the girl and boy scouts although we didn't LIVE scouts. At one point, I was co-leadering on both ends at the same time. My husband and I have been on committees, have been in charge of all sorts of sales on both ends (including the famous Girl Scout cookies), have been badge people (I forget what that's called anymore), have been quartermaster, in charge of cooking for the cub scout troop (50 families), been the drivers for camping, been on the high adventure groups, etc. That was in addition to a short stint with Indian Princess.
Well, other than my shelves of course, it'll give you some idea as to what I like to read when I say the Kelley Armstrong is hot or cold for me per book, the Highland series would not be of interest :D, but some of the following are favorites:
Jim Butcher's Dresden Files
Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum
Carrie Vaughn's Kitty
Ilona Andrew's Kate Daniels
Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse
C.E. Murphy's Negotiator
Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas
Alice Kimberly's Haunted Bookshop
Laura Anne Gilman's Retrievers
Zenna Henderson's Holding Wonder (The People)
Nina Kiriki Hoffman's The Thread That Binds the Bones
Robert Silverberg's Lord Valentine
Anne McCaffrey's Pern
Kelly McCullough's Ravirn
C.E. Murphy's Walker Papers
... and on and on and on :D
I wonder if they'd let you join the Houston library even though you're nowhere close by?
Also there's a lot of classics that are public domain and can be had for free digitally.
Try the Gutenberg Project.
They had legal free classics.
I've read a part of the first Codex book but I'm not in the mood for an epic fantasy story right now. It's pretty good! I'm just not in the mood.
The Fever series was much better than I'd expected. I was afraid it was going to be too "romance-y".
I wonder if you can get a library card from one of the larger cities even though you don't live there. An amazing number of books are now available online that way. You can just download it onto your computer to read or something.
I have a difficult time with audio books. The voices distract me too much and often don't match my inner idea of personalities and inflections.
Oh, look for the little heart that means favorite (or isolate the favorites) to see which books I found to be the best. You could also look for 5 stars on the review but I've been running into a LOT of good books lately :) A part of the reason that I do so well in satisfying myself with my book choices is that I look for good reviews by like-minded Shelfari friends.
Hi dear, hope everything's ok with you. I need to ask you for a favour, do you have any of Kristin Hannah's ebooks? i'm very enthusiastic to read for this author & can find no books for her in my city bookstores, so if you have any ebooks for her that you can send me i'll be very grateful.
