My first and favorite memory of reading is of me (at three years old maybe) and my sister snuggled into bed with our mother as she read "James And The Giant Peach" to us aloud. I also remember reading to a group of four year olds and trying my best to read clearly and hold the book like a teacher--slowly panning back and forth so that everyone...more »

    Hi Lydia,
I loved reading James and the Giant Peach as a child! I read your profile and that book brought back so many wonderful memories! I wondered what you were reading for the new year. We have many books in common on our shelves for example Octavia Butler is one of my favorite authors of all time!

    Peace & Blessings!

I guess you could start preparing now! Ha! Something tells me that we wouldn't want to know the folks who score in the 80s and above, though...

    Hey Lydia,

    How are you doing?
I read "The Measure of a Man" and it is a very good read. I am going to read The Alchemist as well. I bought the book awhile back but never read it. I have a tendency of buying books and not having the time to read them until later.

Lydia, I like how you describe your love of sharing books--first, with your mom and sister; then, with your peers. I am a retired elelmentary teacher so I was so fortunate to have been able to read to a group of children every school day for many years. I miss that.
