Very poignant illustration of a struggling mother/daughter relationship with a focus of coming of age, forgiveness, and recovery. I loved this book and can't wait to read more from Carleen Brice.

What a good book to read before the new year. I will definitely reassess my goals for how I want to live and make sure I'm at my fullest potential. I highly recommend this book and I'm glad Joel was reading it because you get his enthusiasm throughout the whole book.

I just re-read this book and am so glad I did. This was a coming of age story about Naomi who grew up in the turbulent sixties in Washington D.C. Affected by some racism and the loss of her big brother who died in a car accident on the way to a riot, she comes to terms with who she is and what is important to her. She also sets precedents and stands up for what's right. She makes some mistakes along the way but learns from them and grows in spite of them. I so enjoyed this realistic telling of a young girl growing into womanhood and sharing in her successes.

I loved this book! This is about a woman who is conflicted with her life - in terms of motherhood and marriage. She is a PH.D who is now a stay-at-home mother with two young children. The author goes back and forth to the life of her grandmother and then mother and the choices they made in terms of motherhood and how these choices are impacted her and her decisions. You didn't wonder how she could feel this way, you really got it from the way the author helped you know this character, Grace. I highly recommend this book!

Suspenseful book, good read...however, can't say I care about what happens to the characters to read the sequel. Although, I probably will pick it up, it isn't because I'm dying to know. I can use my literary imagination for that...

Backdrop of this memoir was the Atlanta Child Murders in the late 70's - early 80's. The author is the daughter of the female investigator in the case. Interesting perspective of how these events affecting her childhood.

Great book that breaks down the biblical mandate that we as Christians have to extend favor to those that are in the minority be it by race, class, culture, disability, sex. I found it helpful for implemental a special needs ministry at my church.
