    Hey Lulu

Nice to hear from you :)
I'm happy to hear that 'Firefly Lane' was a good read, because it is next on my list!
I'm really looking forward to it.

What other good books have you read lately? What were your faves from 2009?
Mine were: Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, A Thousand Splendid Suns, Together: A Novel of Shared Vision, and Goodnight Mr Tom.

What are you reading now, and planning to read soon?
The ones I plan to read soon are on my 'Wish List'.

Oh, and yes... cute kitty huh! Not mine this time though, I just liked the pic. I often do use pics of my own cats though... but now I have a new bird, I will have to use one of her too sometimes :)

    Wow!!
    I'm so jealous!
And after looking at your shelf, have to smile to myself... your "plan to read" shelf has only a few books on it and lots on your "have read" shelf... just the way it's meant to be :)
Mine, well... lets just say the 120 on my "to be read" shelf is not fooling anybody... haha... that is enough to last me the next 5-6 years... now i need to stop looking at your shelf before i find another hundred to add... haha :)

    Hi Lulu...

it's your 50 Book Challenge buddy here :)

    well... how did you do??
    did you make it ??
    i hope so!!

i didn't ~ of course ~ but we all knew that wasn't going to happen!!
i'm not going to beat myself up for it... reading is supposed to be fun, and something i find relaxing... it wouldn't be relaxing if i put myself under pressure to read faster or put reading in front of other priorities, or other hobbies i love to do... just to get more books in the year!

i did make my own personal goal of reading 24 books... just finished number 24 today, and have finished my thread on the group (going to start another one for next year now... need to read at least 25 next year :) so, anyway... had i been able to join the 24 book group like i said at the beginning of my thread... i would have been successful... haha :)

hope you had a wonderful christmas... and all the best for 2009!!

    take care,
    Jo

    hello,
I love cats/kittens, they are my mission in life. I volunteer at our local shelter and take in foster cats from time to time. Right now I have 3 kittens who have been in my home for almost 3 months. They came to me with severe Upper respiratory, seem better now but have flare ups now and then. I spay/neuter, vaccinate, flea meds then find forever homes. I also walk dogs at the shelter at least twice a week if not more, they need out of the kennels and enjoy the one on one with humans. I see we have some books in common, happy reading. wendy

I really liked The Tenth Circle! I finished it because I couldn't put it down! I had a feeling the mom was involved with Jason's death. I really like reading Jodi Picoult!

    thank you!
hope you had a happy easter :)
i have just been looking at the debbie macomber books you have listed (cedar cove series)... what are they like? do they have a "knitting" theme running throughout all the books? they remind me of another series i have been meaning to get from the library... i forget the author but the books are from the Elm Creek "Quilt Series"... i think there are around 10 books in the series so far... do you know of these or have you read them?

I'm reading a nonfiction book called Lone Survivor. It's very good. I am liking it very much. Are you liking The Outlander? I read the synopsis of it and it sounds intriguing. Is it anything like the Time Traveler's Wife?

    hi lulu
i have finished "You've Been Warned", it is now on my "i have read" shelf and i have posted a quick review on it (it's ok there are no "spoilers" in my review:) don't let me put you off... but it just wasn't my favorite by JP. i think you will find that too, when comparing it to some of his better ones. i have the good timing that a group read is about to start in the JP group... and the good luck that it looks like the winner will be "The Jester" which is one i want to read! i don't usually take part in the group reads that i see going on in other groups (partly because i read too slow, and partly because i am always busy reading my own books)... but i will give it a go with the JP group, should be fun.
how did you like "Step on a Crack"? i started this one a few months ago, but it had to go back to the library, so i didn't finish it :(

I also like Kristin Hannah and LuAnn Rice. Like Debbie Macomber, the reading style is breezy and it's fairly easy to imagine yourself in the place of the leading lady in their stories.

I am enjoying the Stephanie Plum series! I would definitely recommend it!

have you read "Derailed" by James Siegel? i will send you a recommendation as i think you will like it :) it is another page turner with great plot twists, and a quick read. i wouldn't bother if you have already seen the movie though... as of course you would already know what happens!
