“This is the story of a shape that is missing a piece and is not happy. So it goes on a journey to find its missing piece. It goes through all kinds of weather and stops to talk to worms and smell the flowers. It goes through jungles, up hills, and down hills. It finds several pieces but they all are either too big or too small. It continues its journey and finally finds the perfect piece. It rolls faster than ever and starts to sing a song, but can't because the piece is in the way. So it puts down the piece and starts its journey all over again as it sings its song looking for its missing piece. I love this story because it is so peaceful and one of the most simple books I have ever read. Its message being that maybe life is about the journey and is not about the destination or the ending result really makes me love this book even more. It is a great book for all ages and can really show you to enjoy what surrounds you. In a classroom this book can be read to a class to ask what they think the message in the book is. For this type of discussion I would make sure the audience is in 3rd grade or older. It will allow the children to think and comprehend what they read. ”

“Officer Buckle had a bunch of safety tips thump tacked to his bulletin board. Officer Buckle would go visit different schools to explain his safety tips and no one would ever listen. Then the police department bought a police dog named Gloria. He then took Gloria to all the schools when he went to give his safety tips to the children. This time the children were listening, clapping, and laughing and he was so happy that they loved his safety tips. He received a lot of thank you letters with lots of pictures of Gloria. He has several schools call him about his safety tips and Gloria. He found out that the reason all the children loved the safety tips was because of Gloria. Officer Buckle didn't go to the next safety tip and only sent Gloria. He got letters about Gloria falling asleep and realized that they needed him. He told himself to not forget the safety tip to always stick with your buddy. I love this story because it not only gives cute safety tips for children but conveys the message that you are always needed. Gloria could not do the safety tips without Officer Buckle and Officer Buckle could not do the safety tips without Gloria. I love the color in this book and how the inside cover is covered in other safety tips so the children can read them on their own time. In a classroom, after reading, I would pass the book around so the children can read all the other safety tips. The children can learn from Officer Buckle and Gloria and be able to also laugh at all of Gloria's tricks. You can also do an interactive activity in class where the children write down a safety tip for their own classroom and hang it on the wall. ”
