    Hi Lovely Librarian,

Just dropping by to say "hello". Sorry I haven't had more time to spend here in Shelfari. Hope you've been reading some great books!

    Thanks Rebecca,

I forgot all about booklist--that's a great idea. I'll look at YALSA too. A friend of mine who writes YA told me about that site too. I haven't read the Twilight series but I'm well aware of it. I actually had a conversation about it in a Barnes and Nobel with a young lady--although she was more of a polite girl than a bitchy one! But I am familiar with the bitchy girls--I think I was one when I was that age.

I went to my first library conference yesterday in Worcester, MA. It was the New England chapter of ACRL. Interesting experience. I'd like to go to one focused on public libraries to see the contrast. . .

    Take care!

Speaking of reader's advisory, I came across a job posting for a young adult reference librarian that sounds really great. Do you have any titles to recommend that I can take a peak at? I want to become a little more familiar with the genre before I write my cover letter. Or is there a good resource out there I can look over? Thanks!

    Thanks Rebecca,

That's really helpful. I did a project on Library 2.0 for my internship and I researched all these different tools like using Facebook and Twitter. I think this would be a great tool to add to my list of library friendly applications.

If you're interested, check out the libguide I created:

    http://libguides.vassar.edu/library_20

It's mostly geared toward academic libraries, but the things I discuss can really apply to both. I'll check out that article you mentioned. It sounds really good.

    Take care,
    Irene

    Hi Lovely Librarian,

Do you think a social networking tool can be useful in libraries? I was thinking it could be very useful for reader's advisory, but also that maybe it can be used for instruction and book groups.

    Let me know your thoughts!

Hi there. Someone in the Data Group needs to approve names besides me! You're a librarian so ... (so am I). Anyway, the only change requests visible are from me, so I can't approve any more for a while.

Thanks for the response! I picked up A Field of Darkness for the very same reason - saw a review of Crazy School (I think that's the right title.) I think I will read the new one, so I'll let you know if it's any better than Field. Though I have a stack of books to read right now! Might take me a-good-long-while!!!

    LL,
Saw you read A Field of Darkness. Did you enjoy? Do you plan on reading her new one that's now out? I just finished Field - thought it was pretty good.
