Please vote for Efren Peñaflorida for CNN Hero of the Year 2009. He is the teacher who started "Kariton Klassrum" and one of the founders of "Dynamic Teen Company" which is now mobilizing this free mobile education. He is a Filipino and we should all be proud of him.

    Hi Again:

Just read your note to me. Thanx for the kind and head blowing upper words. I appreciate it, that you appreciate my shelf. As I do Appreciate yours. Hmmm,
I see that we have approximate 8 books in common: To me, that means, that out of the forty or so books that you have on your shelf....we have at least,

1/4 of the same books in common. And that alone is a basis to create a friendship. As for me my newly found friend....I am oh so looking forward to....talking shop
    (books) with you.

    JASS!

Welcome to Classical Re-education! It’s so good to have you join us! As stated in the main thread, discussion on any book on the list is welcome at any time. There are no deadlines or time restraints on any book or any thread. It’s all meant to be a learning environment. However, if you just want to read along with where I already am, I’m starting Uncle Tom’s Cabin in July. Can’t wait to read your posts!

It's a very powerful book, very well done. It's not just a crappy drama like others.

I've never heard of that movie before. What's it about?

I'm just busy with the novel I'm writing. Its my first, so I'm quite anxious, no, desperate to see how others would think of it. I made a new website for it and a blog where I post the chapters. There's really nothing to do since its vacation. Its the same for you too, right? We're both Filipinos.

Where in the Philippines do you live?

Oh, okay! x) I just wanted to know cause the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series can get pretty steamy (like, I'm sure youve noticed, the covers make it look). Usually I dont go for novels like that but her writing sucked me in!

Oh by the way, do you know...I was watching this local "good places to eat" show on TV and they showed a Filipino restaurant near my house. The girl on the show was eating this dessert in a glass with all kinds of toppings on it! Do you know what its called? I think its 'halo halo' but Im not sure?

    Hi Lorraine:
I found English versions of "Dusk" and "The Samsons" by F. Sionil José, and "Dogeaters" and "Dream Jungle" by Jessica Hagedorn. Which of these novels would you recommend as a good introduction to these authors?
I would love to visit the Philippines; the closest I've been thus far is Singapore & Malaysia.
