    Hey Lore,

    How goes it?

    Still teaching or on break? We have FOUR more days to go!!! It has been a wonderful year and I am looking forward to closing it with a strong finish.

    Oh, my 3rd book was recently released, "Roam Italy: A Teacher and His Students Take the Ultimate Class Trip," in case you are interested.

    Going back to the Dominican Republic this summer for a month with the "Friends Beyond Borders" coalition. I cannot wait to get my hands dirty over there again.

    Doing well here. Just packing for my flight to the Dominican Republic tomorrow.

    Sounds like you have a pretty exciting schedule with your students.

    We have a totally new program coming up this year where Social Studies and Language Arts are merging so we are getting lots of new material. The main text we use in SS is "The History of US" by Joy Hakim. I like it because it reads more like a story and less like an encyclopedia.

    Reading any good books these days yourself or have any solid recommendations for my 8th graders?

    Better than Starbucks is one of the fastest growing literary/social groups on Shelfari, with good reason. the membership (not so much me, the founder) is literate and diverse, and by and large very intelligent. The name of the group comes from an argument that led to the founding.
