I grew up in a library and surrounded by books and often find myself forgoing sleep to finish a good book. I love them dearly and can't understand why people loath reading. What I hate most is waiting for the next book in a series. This list is incomplete because I forget to write down what I've read or add to my shelf.

your booklist intrigues me. I like sherrilyn kenyon and love charlaine harris. read the whole dead series. am very eclectic in my book choices (read young adult lit also, have two kids, just like some of it :)) am interested in jayne castle since seeing your list. any suggestions on first book of hers to read? I kinda like to read them in order...

Nice shelf. I see you have the LA Banks series on your shelf. I've just started reading them myself, and I love them. Do you know of any similar books?

Hi LocaApi! I was reading your book description in the What is the name of that book? group, but can't help with that (it sounds good, I hope someone figures it out!). However it did make me think of Anne McCaffrey's 'The Ship who Sang' series, which I think you might enjoy. I've only read the first one so far, but it deals with people who are born with serious physical disabilities but sound minds, whose brains are implanted into intergalactic scout ships after they are educated & trained. Then, along with a 'normal' pilot/partner they operate the ship & roam the galaxy.
Also just want to say a) I love your avatar! and b) thanks for reminding me to add Hermann Hess to my bookshelf by having him on yours!

    Dear LocaApi,

I am sorry to offend about my comment that I feel you have to be raised in the Chinese culture to understand it. I do feel it was a valid comment. I did not see it as an insult, but a realistic impression of my own. I admire those who become diplomats of different countries, who study with locals to learn customs and mindset/ traditions. Even living in another culture would allow you to "pick up" some knowledge, but I think a lot cannot be explained. I think you have to "live it." I take it you are Chinese American raised with traditional customs through older generations around you?

    love, Gail
