I'm a High School English Teacher so books are what I do. No matter how many I read, I still find it so fulfilling each time I turn the last page of another well written book. My personal favorites tend to be historically based, but I also love a quick and easy young adult read.

I added Night and The Skin I'm in and they both look pretty good. Do you know of any other holocaust books?

I actually didn't like Fahrenheit 451 that much. I enjoyed it more the second time I read it because I was in a better frame of mind, but it's definitely not my favorite. Thanks for the recommendation of Jane Eyre. I've heard it's a great book and it's on my TBR list. I just need to actually read it. ;)

Thank you for posting what you did about The Book of Mormon on the Top 10 Posts of 2008 in the 50 Book Challenge group. It touched me.

I haven't read much of it yet, but it reminds me of Things Fall Apart and the movie Hotel Rwanda, have you run into either of these? If you like those I think you will like this one. I do like it so far though.

Thank you for your response about The Scarlet Letter. Your response helped to convince me that the book probably will interest me and I have now ordered the book. Thanks again.

I am probably going to buy that next week! right now my parents set my book limit to 2 a week because they dont want to drive me to the store! but this week I bought Wuthering Heights, and Wicked. I'm also reading the Davinci Code! most people think I'm inane because I'm only in 7th grade!

How funny - I actually got the book from a girl in my current ward who is also from Delta - Amy Swalberg is her maiden name. My maiden name is Bills. I graduated in 96. From your picture, you look a little younger - my sister is Tori. Did you know her? Anyway, small world.

Yeah, let me know how you liked the book. It reminded me a lot of "The Hiding Place". Both books are very inspiring - it's amazing what people can live through.

I think we liked A thousand splendid suns more because it is about women. It showed me the harsh life of women in Afghanistan and made me humble and thankful for my own free and lovely life. I'm very curious about any new book of Hosseini. Sadly I haven't find out yet if there is going to be a third one.

if you are really into African literature then and particularly because you are a teacher, i would recommend Ali Mazrui's, the Trial of Christopher Okigbo...it is about someone (literary critic or lecturer) who left the classroom to join the Biafran Civil war and lost his life...the gist of the story is whether what his decision to do so (join the war) was for the good of the community or he would have served the cociety better as he was...i read it perhaps 20 years ago but it remains in my heart...to me it is a classic
