My name is Liz Mullins. My official title is Literacy Coach, but I also serve as our Parental Involvement Coordinator. In other words, I wear LOTS of hats. I have taught for 25 years in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Louisiana, and Arkansas. I did my undergraduate work in Elementary Ed. at Louisiana State and Lamar University. I received my M.Ed & Reading Specialist at Southwestern Oklahoma State. I am also a National Board Certified Middle Childhood Generalist.
My husband is the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas – that explains all the states that I have taught in! I work with an all-girls group called Tech Sweethearts on campus to promote and build spirit and support for our football team. In addition to our 120+ football children, Steve and I have 3 children-Katie, Hunter, and Mason, ages 22-15 & a crazy 2 year-old English Bulldog named Buddy. Buddy visits my school quite often and loves to play with our students.
In addition to my work at my FANTASTIC school, Oakland Heights Elementary, I am a site-based state trainer in Arkansas’s balanced literacy programs, ELLA and ELF, and am currently enrolled in the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Partnerships in Comprehensive Literacy program of study in order to receive my Literacy Coach Specialist’s certification.
