I know you love Hamlet - did you see that an author named John Marsden did a prose version of it? It was just published in August. I really want to read it!

Hi! Have you gone back to school? We just returned this week. I've finally been able to get my students to join shelfari...thanks to you! I think they're having fun revisiting childhood favorites. Hope you are doing well.

I finally finished Middlesex. I had such sympathy for Cal by the end. I enjoyed it...not my usual read, but it was pretty good. Do you have any students who have read this? Also, I'd like to return the book to you. Send it? Meet up? Let me know what's good.

I'm still enjoying Middlesex. I like the way the story is told...different from others. I feel like when the narrator is giving details about an event, and stops the reader and inserts some kind of commentary. It's like an aside for prose. Is there a literary "term" for this kind of writing?

Hole in my Life is the book that hooked me on Gantos. If I have a boy that needs a book with an "edge" I always hand that one to him. I know they read it as a lit.circle book in 9th grade, but I still give it to my senior students who haven't read it.
