I occasionally listen to Dr. Charles Stanley on television, so when I came across his book, The Blessings of Brokenness, my interest was piqued and so glad it was because it truly is a little gem. I feel so blessed by Dr. Stanley’s insightful teachings helping me grasp a better understanding of my relationship with God and how He is continually molding and shaping me for His purpose. This is an excellent read for anyone, especially one whose ever dealt with brokenness, past or present.

‘I Heard the Owl call My Name’ is a tender story about the simple step to friendship, trust, love, and lastly, loss. Margaret Craven’s story lingers in my memory even though it has been quite a while since I read it. I recall that the interaction with the village natives was told via the priest's view. As the story gradually unfolds, we begin to understand the depth of friendship that is growing and it is only near the end of the story that the priest's mysterious illness rapidly deteriorates, causing the people of the village to ask him to live his last days with them. A simple, yet good read.

    The Darling Buds of May

I just revisited the book ‘The Darling Buds of May’ after numerous years sitting on the shelf, and yet, the attraction carries on better than ever. This is delightfully humorous and a good read.

    The Dragon's Eye

A fun read for dragon lovers. Good mid grade book of light fantasy, British society with India and all that. A dragon around every corner, all living in holes, bogs, and a few hills. Wonderful illustrations of dragons and characters.

Her latest books are more polished. Just as an after-thought, I enjoy the twists and turns of her mysteries, but wish Ms. Grafton didn’t feel so compelled to give Kinsey such a potty-mouth. An easy read.

The plot of, ‘C’ is for Corpse, was fairly expected, and yet it held a suitable tempo much like Ms. Grafton’s previous two mysteries. Typically, Kinsey takes a case and then discovers clues, packed with one or two subplots, all of which precedes a gripping confrontation with the criminal. Ms. Grafton has the canny ability to give a convincing characterization to the heroine. Kinsey seems to grow on the reader with her engaging appeal, and someone we can all relate to. An entertaining read.
