LISAG

I have been a lover of books for as long as I can remember. It started with Amelia Bedilia, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle and Judy Blume. And now I love historical fiction, biography, and a good long family saga. I get most of my recommendations from family and friends. But I also love to go to www.booksense.com. This is a fantastic way to find good...more »

June nominations are now up on the Good Reads book Group page. Please vote by April 15th! Remember, if you want to be the next person that nominates, you must take part in a discussion for April's book OR vote in Junes! We will pull a name out of a hat to be July's nominator!

Hi Lisa - I hope all is well with you. Were you still planning on attending the HAYS discussion tomorrow (1/17). It looks like the weather is going to be bad, so we might be on standby to see if the meeting will happen. I noticed you had "Women of the Silk' on your shelf - did you get a chance to read it? I did and I like her books as she exposes me to another culture.

Happy New Year! I am glad that you enjoyed HAYS and look forward to meeting you on the 17th. I spoke to the book club leader last night and she said that she cannot carry HAYS around as people stop her and want to sart talking about the book.

    Hi -
I hope all is well. I am not enjoying this weather but I will not complain as compared to other parts of the country we are fine. Thanks for the book suggestions, I already had the books on my TBR list for a little while but I will move up my list. I do hope you can make the book club meeting on Jan. 17th. We meet in Meeting Room #1 which if you come through the Rockville Library main entrance is on the left after you come through the door.

    Hi Lisaf

I am probably closer than you think as I am in Rockville (King Farm). 20855 is an old zip code but really only 3 miles from where I live now.

As I love sooo many books - it is hard to pick my top 10 - I can probably procvide with my top 10 reads for 2007.

But I saw that you love historical fiction. If so then I think you will like - "Half of A Yellow Sun" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I have already discussed this book with 2 book clubs and everyone in both clubs loved it (which is better hard to do with one of these clubs).

If you are interested this book will be discussed at one of the Rockville Library books on Jan. 17th. If you are interested let me know & I will provide the info.

LISAG, thanks! For your very kind words about my review on Katherine Graham's book.
She was certainly -- a gracious lady and a women with a lot of courage. I think NIxon, would had said, "She was a force of nature...That we we're not prepared for!" I like yourself LOVED this book. Request is on the way. ~mo-zy
