    Hi, Linda. I think by now my book is in ash form. The publisher went out of business. The distributor was supposed to send me 25 copies and never did. You might pick up a copy at the library. My focus now is on my next book, with a NY agent pushing and the hopes that a larger publishing house will step in. If you don't get promotion behind you, even the best novel goes nowhere.

    There generally has been no accepted, universal format for ebooks. There is an organization that exists to promote one, the International Digital Publishing Forum (www.idpf.org), which has many mainstream publishers as members. This forum has defined a true standard for electronic publications, which is EPUB. To date, Amazon and B&N both haver selected to use a format that requires you to purchase THEIR reader(s) and then limit you to them as a source for content. This was the subject of my gripe that I've commented on here and elsewhere. When the NOOK came out, I wrote to B&N myself to complain about this point, as an example.

    Of the mainstream publishers, various are offering content in the EPUB format. Of particular interest is that Sony is at this point that only provider that has gone (now) completely to the EPUB format (http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/08/sony-reader-store-goes-100-epub-on-friday/), and has aligned itself within the market with Borders (also offering in PDF or EPUB formats), (http://ebooks.borders.com/content/borders/index.shtml). Recently, I have heard (finally) will shortly be shiftiing things so they DO provide content and offer publications in this format...they don't yet! I won't buy again from B&N (personally) until this happens! The industry needs a standard, where publishers and hardware are independent...and it looks like its starting to go that direction. B&N (assuming they sell in EPUB finally) will be a viable source at that point.

    I'll repeat some general sources for EPUB...

    Another novel source is from a library source...source and Search for 'Free' digital media: http://www.overdrive.com/partners/libraries.asp

    Check out Sony's website for more information on the library side, I think that's interesting for one...as well as the Google sources, also in EPUB.

    So long as the book you get from a supplier is in EPUB...it should be generally readable on your Sony, for whatever that's worth. The Sony will also read PDF, for example. Also, don't forget, you can definetly now buy this format from Borders and from Sony's own ebook page also. Hopefully, you'll be able to from the B&N site shortly also.

    No, it's not new at all, Linda; I've wanted to read it for a while. It's a paperback, and that doesn't happen for at least a year after a hardcover is published. I think it was one that isn't "legal - based", but I can't recall. I've a lousy memory. I do know that several people have said it was great. Now, I've loaned it out, believe it or not! When I went to that rummage sale yesterday I bought ten books, knowing I'd not get to read all very soon, and one of my friends spied that one and asked to borrow it. She's pretty good about reading quickly and returning, so I said okay.
