Hi! I've been an avid reader since I discovered Nancy Drew books in 3rd grade. My mother was always a reader too and she was my mentor - introducing me to wonderful books as I got a little older like The Princess and the Goblin, At the Back of the North Wind, James Herriott, Gone with the Wind, Horatio Hornblower, the Brontes to name a few....more »

Yeah, I read The Ranger's Apprentice Book 4, too. It was really good, but not as good as the first one. I don't know what was different, but it just seemed, I don't know, different... Anyway, I haven't read Skybreaker yet, though I have it borrowed from the library. I'm currently reading Percy Jackson and the Olympian's fourth book, Battle of the Laberynth. It's great!

Hey! Sorry I haven't responded or anything, but I've been a little busy. How are you doing? I just read an interesting book: Airborne by Kenneth something (I can't recall his last name). Have you seen Prince Caspian? It's really good, even though they changed some things. It's one of my favorite books and it made a great movie.

See, that's why I wanted to be your friend! I knew you would suggest some good books to me. It's funny with this site; you can tell a lot about a person based on the books they read.

Hi there, and thank you for your note! I was just looking at your rating system, and it's very similar to mine (I wish we had a 10-star system instead of only 5, however). It also prompted me to go back and look at the books I'd rated either 4 or 5 stars, to see if they truly merited that score. Funny, isn't it, how you may feel differently about a book a few weeks or months after you read it, once you've had time to think about it?

Yes, as you guessed I am of Irish heritage, and was finally able to visit Ireland a few years ago. It was wonderful, and I hope to go back someday soon to get a more 'in depth' look at some areas we didn't have a chance to linger in. It's a lovely country, and the people we met (even in the cities) were generally warm and welcoming.

I'll be on the lookout for the books you recommended. I'm reading "Water for Elephants" at the moment (well, ok, that and several others -- I have books in progress all over the house and one at my office -- I admit to being a hopeless biblioholic).

Yes, my daughter thoroughly enjoyed "Eragon" and "Eldest" and is looking forward to the final book in the trilogy. The author did an excellent job, considering his age, but I think I'd rather reread Tolkien. And you heard correctly: the Hollywood adaptation of "Eragon" was a mess. But then, I can only think of a handful of books whose films did them justice.

I do love Mrs. Pollifax, and I also enjoyed her other books. I tried the series you recommended -- especially cos I am from South Africa originally, and finished the first one and then kind of forgot about it -- I need to revisit and read the other ones in the series. If you can think of anything else to recommend I would be happy to hear. For the last few days I have been trying to add books that I have read, but there are thousands, and I would really like to start writing reviews, doing tabs, giving stars etc. So many books so little time has never rung so true :)

Hi there! I enjoyed perusing your bookshelf -- we have several favorite authors in common, and as mother to a 16-year-old fantasy reader, I also find myself reading a fair amount of YA fiction (most of it quite good). What are you reading at the moment?
