librarybooks

My name is librarybooks because I work with school libraries. More specifically I work for a wholesale book company that sells to K-12 school libraries. I have also been accepted to a graduate school for Library & Information Science and will start classes Summer of 2008! My plan is to work in a school library.

My shelf is a list... more »

hey! i just wanted to let you know that i still check in on your shelf almost every time i log in to shelfari. we have pretty similar tastes in books, and so if you loved something, i will usually find a way to read it. i am so glad you are still doing written reviews of so many of the books you read. i have kind of petered out on that...

also, i noticed your review on wildwood dancing and just had to recommend daughter of the forest, also by juliet marillier. it was the first book she wrote, and imo it is her best. it is also a fairytale retelling, this time of the six swans. so far, i haven't met a reader who hasn't loved it.

Finished New Moon the other day. It was better than Twilight, but I am fairly certain that Eclipse may not be my most favorite. I am quite the Jacob fan.

Dear Librarybooks: I am an author from Massachusetts. I've come to appreciate libraries much more recently. I've done some readings of my novel in front of very appreciative audiences, not k-12 though. My debut novel HUNTING THE KING was published in April by Kunati Books of Canada. If you enjoy reading a good thriller, you might like HUNTING. The novel revolves around a charismatic young woman named Molly O’Dwyer. Molly was five years old when she witnessed her mother die in a fire. She never knew her father. After her mother’s death, she was raised on the campus of a Jesuit college. Now an archaeologist, she has been recruited to participate on a dig in war torn Iraq. As a scientist she is compelled to discover whatever or whoever is buried under the sands of ancient Babylon. As an observant Catholic, she is scared that whatever she finds will have devastating consequences for her faith. There is a wonderful YouTube book trailer well worth watching if you have the chance. Happy Thanksgiving. Peter

When I finished Twilight, all I could think was how badly I wanted a new Percy Jackson to come out. Goodness. It was good. I told my girlfriend I would read it and I did. I am TRYING to read New Moon, but goodness is it hard for me to relate to a teenage girl.

Good luck with your studies. We need even more dedicated school librarians! I hope you'll get some ideas from my shelf. I appreciate the shelves that have books rated and tagged. They're much more useful.

This is my lightest LEEP semester. Work has been slow so I usually read about 1-2 books during the day. I have to keep up kids wanting book recommendations! I'm reading from the Rebecca Caudill list and they are really quick reads. I limit TV to Mondays (Heroes), Tuesday (The Mentalist), and Wednesday (Pushing Daisies). I also cut down my time on the Lex. As you can see, I have no social life whatsoever. LOL

Hey, I finished Lightning thief. It was awesome. No one has any copies of the rest of these books! I had to start John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice series, but I only have book one in the series.

If you love Nick and Norah's, I would highly suggest Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List. I liked it a little more than Nick and Norah's. I hope they write another book together.

p.s. The final is not hard. If you did you're readings and know the major points, then you'll do fine. Trust me, the tracking paper was the hardest. Good luck!

I bought Roswell Season 1 and 2 this past weekend. I'm waiting for summer school to be over to watch it. It'll keep my jitters for BD at bay for a little while at least. How are you surviving bootcamp?

I loved Nick and Norah's infinite playlist! I actually liked Nick more than Norah. Did you know they are making a movie based on the book with Michael Cera? If you like these two authors together then I highly recommend Naomi and Eyle's no kiss list. It's fantastic!

I love St. Louis. It reminds me a lot of where I grew up in Maryland. I love the green and the trees and parks and hills. It is great so far. I am out in the county in the southwest part. The commute isn't bad for Mike to Barnes-Jewish and I have access to everything I could possibly want. It is great!

I had forgotten that you lived here. Do you miss it or do you still have family that you come visit?

LOL, thanks librarybooks! I miss Roswell too. Yeah, I did read Hornby's adult books. I would higly recommend About a Boy and High Fidelity. Both books were made into excellent movies.

You have to read Speak by Laurie Halsie Anderson. It's a terrific book! Btw, Slam is Hornby's first book for Young Adults.

Love Sarah Dessen. I'll have to check out her recent one-Lock and Key. So far I've read two books by here, Dreamland and Just Listen, both were very good. We both got similar tastes in reading, pretty cool!
