My boys start school next week. They are in 1st and 3rd grade. I just finished Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Picoult and an now almost done with 1st to Die by James Patterson. It is so good and so addicting.
I just bought Twilight today so I will start it in the next day or so. I have heard so many good things about it.
Glad to hear everything is good for you in school. Have a good long weekend.

I have to agree with your mom. My neighbor is reading it right now and she said the same thing this morning. Remember parachute pants? My book group picked it along with the mothers 2 books for our summer book group so we will be discussing them in a few weeks.

Cool. I grew up in Stevens Point but my husband's from Oregon. My mom said that some parts of Sister Salty had her laughing so hard she started to tear up. I'm looking forward to reading it. Right now, my older daughter loves books, but it seems like her sister doesn't have the patience for "storytime" but she's little. Her favorite book right now is Mr. Cookie Baker (what a 2 year old who likes a book about cookies?! No way).

We had a very relaxing vacation. My hubby and the boys fished and I read 6 books We saw and caught lot of fish and saw a few bear. I read: Double Bind by Chris Bohjaalian - very good
Second Glance by Jodi Picoult - not my favorite
Househusband - just a fun read
Sister Salty, Sister Sweety by Natalie Kring - so funny, brought back many memories of growing up
Home to Big STone Gap - the 4th in the series and it was good
    All the Numbers

Right now I am reading The Zoo Keepers Wife and it is very intersting. I am not reading a ton right now because I am getting ready for back to school and have a few things going on. But once school starts for my boys then I am home all day to read again. :)
Enjoy your last week of time off.

Hi! I would recommend The Secret Life of the Underwear Champ. Oh! Have you read Frindle with your son yet? I taught the book to my class and they LOVED it (and I think I enjoyed it as much as they did!)
I would also recommend going to http://www.icdlbooks.org/ to look at an amazing list of books-- almost all of which are available to read on the website as well.
    Enjoy!

Either the Alex Cross Novels or the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson.
I have a third and first grader and love childrens books. Anything good you can recommend for a 3rd grade boy? We are just finishing the Magic Tree House series and then we will need another one.
Have you read anything else good this summer? I have read so much this summer and I love it.

Have I read what series by Patterson? The Double Bind is my first novel by Bohjalian. Are the other great as well? I am 6th grade English teacher, so once I finish the Double Bind I will have to start reading tons of adolescent novels b/c the school year is here!! :)

Hi! We seem to have some common interests! I see that Sam's Letters to Jennifer is one of your favorites. If you haven't read Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas or Sundays at Tiffanys by Patterson, I recommend them :) I JUST started The Double Bind today! I am excited to read it!

I haven't read that book but have heard of it! I'm from South Dakota and participate in a book club during the school year (I'm also an 8th grade teacher). I always enjoy making it when I can since the group is made up of a fun bunch. I'm reading The Shack right now. A review was in Time last week and I was just starting it. So far it's been an interesting read :)

Amy, the next book I plan to read is a memoir called "All I Could Bare:My Life in the
Strip Clubs of Gay Washington D.C." by Craig Seymour. The author himself contacted
me and asked if I would like to recieve a free copy of his book as long as I reviewed it.
And he contacted me because I added his book to my to-read list. Anyways, I want
to read that book ASAP for him. Anyway, good to hear from you. Stay Cool. It is a
scorcher here in Walnut Creek, California.

Hi Amy, what Picoult book are you reading now? I'm almost done with
"Songs of the Humpback Whale" . I like the story line, but definitely not my favorite
    Picoult book.

Hi, Amy. I would love to know what you think of Change of Heart. I really liked it. Since reading it, I've read two more by Jodi Picoult - Perfect Match and Nineteen Minutes. I enjoyed both. I thought the character development in these two surpassed Change of Heart.

I am reading something non-fiction right now (need to update my shelf!), Franklin and Lucy: President Roosevelt, Mrs. Rutherford, and the Other Remarkable Women in His Life. I'm a huge Eleanor Roosevelt fan; that's what led me to borrow this one from the library. I'm only 30 pages into it, but so far, so good.

You have a great summer too.

No, I haven't read that one. I'll check it out from the library. I liked Sister and Nineteen Minutes, but HATED Tenth Circle and couldn't even get through Vanishing Acts or get into the Pact. It's kind of like she has a formula - which is somewhat off putting. And you KNOW there is going to be that twist, so you start looking for it now.
