In response to your note, yes, love Kate Elliot. My bookshelf is a little heavy with her right now because I'm reading her Crown of Stars series. It's pretty good, but a little too much fantasy for my taste -- I prefer sci-fi. I VERY highly recommend her sci-fi series Jaran.
