“I really enjoyed this. Author reminds me of Helen MacInnes or Mary Stewart. They write of simpler, happier times. Fun cast...”
“Nice love story that takes place post ww1 in austria. This is charming with a mix of royalty, opera, and greed. No one dies...”

Hey Lbj61, how is Dumas's 'The Last Cavalier' coming along? Am reading 'Peony in Love' at the moment, is interesting so far.Happy reading,R
There are two references to the bombing of London. The first is when Stuyvesant stands in the great hall and reflects on the history the family has witnessed. the historic references are in chronological order. The next to last reference "die in sun baked lands" is I believe a reference to the Duke's service in the Boar War. The last reference should be a reference to the WWI service of the son. It is in fact a reference to WWII. It is 1926 and bombs didn't rain on London until 1940. In a later chapter Gray mentions half the pubs of London having been destroyed. Again a reference to the WWII bombing of London.
Hey lbj61, how goes it?Which book would be your foremost recommendation to a book club?Thx,R
Sorry I haven't answered you in such a long time. I don't have much free time so I'm not on here very often. Yes, I do have Innocent Man although I haven't read it yet. Have you read it yet? I heard it is good. Do you read Stephen White?
Hey lbj61, thanks for your reply; this may be an observation with bias, but I believe that children whose parents are teachers (such as yourself) almost invariably turn out to be very good students. =) Patience is something I don't have...Well you must let me know if you're in Des Moines in the future, would love to meet you! Happy reading,R
Hey lbj61,so Chevalier's book is interesting so far; William Blake appears to be a bit elusive, but then I haven't gotten too deep into it as yet.Homeschooling, wow. You must be awesome, (I've always appreciated people who take on such great responsibilities). What are some of the challenges and joys you've come across in the same? Have an absolutely lovely weekend, R
Hey lbj61, 'Touchstone' really sucked. I mean, it was so...journalistic I suppose. I didn't feel the fluidity of reading a good novel. So obviously I don't recommend it. =) Will keep you posted on Chevalier's book. Happy reading, R
Hey lbj61, what inspired you to pick up 'Encyclopedia..', and how is it going?Happy reading,R
Hey, have you started Grisham's book? Somehow, I could never get into his writing. On the other hand, the movies based on his books are very entertaining. =)Happy reading,R
Yeah, and those still aren't all the books I've read and plan to read. So many books, so little time!! 20 sounds so WARM! Lol.
Supposed to be -4 degrees here tonight with the wind chill! UGH!!!
Such a small world isn't it?! Lol. I wouldn't miss the winters either-don't mind the snow but the cold is killing me! Can't wait til summer. Thanks so much for the McCaffrey recommendations-I heard good things but didn't know where to start. Your dog is beautiful too-love the expressive eyes and the multi-colored nose!
Hi! I see you've read a lot of Anne McCaffrey-is there one favorite you'd recommend? Thanks! Paula
