I'm Laurie Gold, formerly known as Laurie Likes Books (or LLB). I founded All About Romance and was its publisher for more than a decade. Although I created AAR on Shelfari, with my retirement I've turned over its administration to AAR staffer and good friend LinnieGayl Kimmel. I remain very invested in books and reading; I review part-time for... more »

    Hi Laurie,

Thanks for friending me. I see you are a Garwood fan, I love her books!! My dream is to visit the RT convention one day, but I live in Europe so it is not exactly round the corner. I write bookreviews for a european booksite, well at least I try... Do anthologies ever work for you, I usually find that the stories are too short to give it a certain depth, but maybe I haven't read the good ones..

The Crying Heart Tattoo? OMG--read it 35-40 years ago? Still remember vivid images. Saw it on your shelf--thanks for reminding me of a delicious weekend I spent reading it as a teenager.

    HI Laurie,
I did read Guardian Angel by Garwood. Loved it. It's on my list. Perhaps it was something else you were thinking of? Let me know because I'd love any suggestions about any of her books that I've missed. Which book were we off? Now I'm dying to know!
Also, send me the link for AAR on Shelfari. I still don't really know how to work this thing.

And a few others are: To Die For, Midsummer Magic, and Indiscretion. The latter I read totally at your suggestion and have rarely laughed more when reading romance.

    Hi Laurie,
First I just want to tell how much I love your website. I can't tell you many books I went out and bought solely based on the reviews on the site.

The only book I have read by Diana Palmer was Lacy which I loved. I think her backlist is very overwhelming that I just haven't picked up anything else by her. Do you have suggestions on where to start?

    Talk to you soon,
    Randi

LOL! I'd give LAMB about a B+ as well. I didn't like it as much as some of his other books (loved THE STUPIDEST ANGEL), but it was still a fun read. I thought it was interesting that you thought it might offend Christians. I had the exact opposite thought--that it might offend Jews, what with the references to bacon, etc. LAMB also turned out to be a much more religious--and serious--book than I'd expected.

    Hey, Laurie,

I enjoyed your review of LAMB by Christopher Moore on AAR. I'd just finished the book, so your perspective was interesting to read!

Hi Laurie! No problem :) The links are actually a little confusing from the email. I'm working with our developers to make that clearer. Thanks! -Amanda

Hi! Laurie. Thanks for your nice words. I am not krisie the author but I am krissree. I like reading books, they sure add some lustre to us while we become better people to interact and in doing so make the world a better place. Still, I like to have your friendship so that I benefit from your experience, and sharing good and great books from your shelf for me to pick and get enlightened. Thats what shelfari is doing, with many angels like you. Have a wonderful weekend.
