I love Alex Ross, so I'm a bit partial, but it was definitely a well written book. He certainly betrays his preferences for specific composers and styles, but it's a good survey of the material.

I like your new photo... I recognize it of course b/c you gave me the book. Great choice. Makes me wonder if I were a book cover, what would I be?

Cool, glad to hear you are sprouting, if erratically. :-)

We have been working on the urban victory garden here, although with our square footage we won't exactly be living off the land any time soon. Farm fantasy still lives though.

Will be interested to hear what you think of Liz Gilbert's book. BTW guess what the diner was that she mentions having worked at in Philly.... Ran into her there once although before I'd read the book; I was having a "harried mom" moment so I probably reinforced all of her misgivings about motherhood. Sigh....

We have people tearing up our (only) bathroom over the next week or so, and I'll be separated from my library as well, but when we're back I'll pony express a few things your way. :-)

You're right – there are some familiar titles on your wish list! If you see anything on my list that you want to borrow let me know.

I think you two are worse addicts than I am. ;-)

Hi Laura and Eric! Thank you for your words of support regarding my little reviews. I think that if i read a book the least I can do is write a few sentences about it. If nothing else it helps me remember the book better. I'm glad you enjoy them.
    Cheers,
    Sherry
