Hi again, Bei! Great - you are right there right now! What's the time? I just E-mail you two minutes ago.
By the way - I love your profile photo! Is it your cat? (I have a cat of the race chartreux, not that I am a (pet) racist :-)

When it comes to sexual abuse (i notices you adding "Stolen tomorrows"), I gather you have already seen the Danish Dogma movie "Festen" by Thomas Vinterberg?

I went to a talk/discussion with Vinterberg one week ago. It was immensely interesting, provocative and inspiring. His thoughts - and acts - about creative processes are very useful and thought-provoking :-)

Ah - I see you added my Luria-recommendation ;-) Did you read it already?
It sounds like a really interesting job you have, Bei! I'd love to hear more about it! Gotta go outside to hang out in the spring garden packed with happy, lusty birds. Spring is here, finally. It's great. Have a nice weekend,

It's great, that you like Borges too. I still lack some of his short stories, so I've got something to look forward to ;-)

    Hi Bei,
Cheers. Yeah - I do some research mediation at www.icrofs.org. It's great. Took a one-year journalism study on top of a pHD on history of science studies. Now, I guess I don't need more education for quite some time - and it's great. Science communication is interesting - my present employer is coordinating, promoting and communicating research in organic farming and food systems. Being a physicist, I am completely unaware of a lot of scientific details - but my boss says it's only a strengh that I can ask all the stupid questions :-)

Now, what do you do for a living? Neurology... It that also just your interest, or a professional thing, you've got going on?
I think Afte Dark by Murakami is one of his best novels - quite short actually, but the screenplay-like writing style really got to me.

    Hi Bei, Cool :-)
Neurology-wise: Oliver Sachs is for fun/interest. I've just recommended an amazing little book about a great Russian mnemonist. A must read for you, I'd say (maybe you've read it already - I didn't check, sorry).
I'm a trained physicist (theoretical physics), but left the field some years ago. Now, I'm doing communication in an international research centre. So, science is of major interest to me. Both specific and more general, popular science. Murakami is a hero of mine. Dostoyevsky is another. Auster is also very important to me. Hmmm... Let's look into your shelf now... I need to add a bunch of books from there too! Take care, Simon

    Hi Bei,

Thanks for the add! I like the list of writers you have. What have you been reading lately?

I believe everyone can write poetry. The best I can do in a class is to help to set up a comfortable, safe environment so students can create art. I think we live in a society that is sadly too bombarded with consumer stuff, and some people are taught that they're not creative and that they have to buy things. Everyone is creative & can become more creative!

    Cheers,

    Dan

I'm a big Katherine Mansfield fan, that's why I dropped the note about friendship. Miss Brill is such a fantastic story---the sad little almond cookie at the end. are you a writer by any chance?

Well I hadn’t listened to him in years but then that movie about Daniel came out and I got back into him. I was always a fan of his art.
