Hi! My name is Tess!
I love to read. My shelf is just a compiled list of a bunch of books I've read, most liked, some abhorred, some I loved. and some I just found to be all right.
As an avid reader and aspiring writer, I find this site pretty nifty. more »

This book was very hard for me to read emotionally because it was wrought so thickly with tragedy. Despite this I didn't want to put it down. A life-altering read that makes you more aware of all the good things you have and makes you scared of losing all of those good things.

Quite interesting. A worthy book for those who have a steady job. I read it because it was recommended in my economics class. Didn't take more than an hour to read. Was really good and informative. If you hate your job and think it's dreary and you don't know why, read this. Also read if you're a manager. Also read just to read it like me :) It's worth the hour!

Pretty chilling and scary! I would not want to wind up in such a scenario that the characters landed in. It's a grotesque tale, written well enough, but not among my favorites.

This book was okay. It's really short. It's sad and kinda dreary. It's written in an interesting style, but I failed to emotionally connect with the main character. There wasn't enough to it.

"This books is profoundly amazing. I cried throughout it. It's heart-wrenching in parts, and very realistic. If you want a light read this isn't it. I mean it's short so it's light in the sense that you won't break your arm carrying it, but it's heavy emotionally.
Really great though! I definitely recommend it!

This was my first Hemingway book, and I really enjoyed it. I mean, it's not gonna be one of my favorite books, but I like the way Hemingway writes and there's a lot of humor in it.
The characters in this book are really interesting and fun to follow. I'm looking forward to reading more Hemingway.

Awful! My time was wasted reading this! Haddix can write, but when it came to this book it just wasnt good enough.

I found Angela's Ashes a really good and interesting memoir, full of vivid details and true sorrows. Very uniquely written and very enjoyable style to read.

Ugh my opinion was just erased so I have to write it over grr.
Okay this was the first Ian McEwan book I've ever read and it didnt really strike me as all that amazing.
I liked how the ending was set in Amsterdam b/c having lived in Amsterdam before it was interesting to hear about old familiar sites.
I picked up this book off my school's library shelf and took a risk b/c I had never heard of it before...
Was the risk worth it? ummmm ... Idk I guess I didnt lose much excepts some time that was spent on reading it...
Overall: the beginning wasnt so bad, the middle wasnt so great, and the end was amusing enough.
Would I read it again or recommend it to others? No, cant say I would.
I might give Ian McEwan another try by reading a different book of his as the Amazon user suggests... but Idk the thought of being caught in the middle of a not so interesting Amsterdam-type novel does not intrigue me.

One of the most, if not the most, amazing books I've ever read. It is my all-time favorite. Incredible! A humongous page turner. I first read it in seventh grade and have been in love with it ever since!
    MAGNIFICENT times a thousand! lol
As for the movie, it cant compare.
