I am adopted and this is the first book that I have read with the point of view focused on the birth mother and the couple adopting the baby. All of the emotions in the story were real and raw. I felt everyone of them. What is great about what Michelle Sutton is that she isn't afraid to write about what is real. This stuff is really going on in our YA today and she writes about it honestly and right in your face! I didn't want to put the book down! This is an absolutely beautiful story. It shows that an birth mother and the adopted family can work together for the good of the child. This is a definite must read, it's one of my top 10 for the year!

    Danger at the Door

    by Michelle Sutton

In Danger At The Door Michelle Sutton has created believable characters and story line. Laney is a woman who has lost everyone she’s ever cared about and that has made her afraid to step foot outside of her own home. On the night that she is receiving take out from her favorite restaurant the delivery guy isn’t the same and the meal she orders is ruined. What begins from there is a friendship that neither Boki nor Laney is expecting. He is in need of learning English and she is barely making ends meet. The friendship begins to take root. Both are surprised at the friendship that happens yet they are drawn to each other. They both have no idea that there are other forces at work drawing them together. This is a story filled with passion, edge which is what Michelle is known for; the spiritual element in the book is beautiful. This book is a beautiful depiction of the Salvation story. I highly recommend it. Pick up a copy today! You won’t be sorry!

I am totally in awe of Susan Meissner. This is the first book of hers that I have read and it won't be the last. The way that she was able to capture the 1600's and also write in the present was truly magnificent. The characters are real. I felt as if I was with Mercy in Salem Village, and with Lauren in Santa Barbara. This book hits me on a personal level as well....In reading the book, and my own limited knowledge about the Salem Witch Trials hearing the behavior described that the men and women who were accused of being witches had; fits, tremors, twitching, etc. really makes me thankful that I wasn't born in that time period. I say that because that behavior is very close if not identical to Epilepsy a disorder that I have. It makes me wonder how many in Salem were accused of being witches who were MURDERED, and were actually sick. Since they didn't have the medical knowledge that we have today it was just easier to accuse and blame. This book will make you step back and make you think twice about making a quick judgement about someone, it will also show you Mercy in another light. I highly recommend this book.

There are lots of theology problems with this book!
First off - if you're going to write a book about God visiting you make sure you don't take away or add to the Bible. That's a BIG NO - NO! God warns against that!
I'm not talking about "Papa" being a big black woman or anything like that. I'm talking about serious points of God leaving Christ when He was hanging on the cross - Uh that happened and there being a God-head has to be - you can't go changing the Bible.
God makes it clear in Ephesians that we are to work out our faith with fear and trembling. That's what William P. Young did in this book. Fine and dandy. The premise is great, I cried with the ending. Just don't write a "Christian" book and change God's holy word!
