Hi Michelle...Hope you are doing well...I am going to add few more books to my shelf...
Nice collection of books
I'm glad to hear from you, Michelle. I also wrote an anti-war novel called THEY WERE CALLED TO DUTY, which is a strong hit on Bush and the war in Iraq. Strangely, after years of trying to get an American agent, I now have a Norwegian agent who is trying to get HUNTING a place in Europe. Every time I write, I try to communicate ideas as well as entertain. Unfortunately, I haven't written about vampires or wizards, so it's been a long haul. You seem to be a very empathetic and caring person. I wonder if you wouldn't be frustrated working for the State Department and wouldn't rather work for non-profits abroad.
I never touched WoW for the same reason I never tried cocaine or heroin. I knew I would disappear and never return.I wish I had a talent for human language (as opposed to machine languages). I have a firm command of English, but I haven't tried learning a new language since I learned how language works.Depending on your interests, I can give recommendations.
Thank you, We have almost NO books in common! You look like a girl I had a chemistry class with (also named Michelle). Did you go to SCC?
Dear Michelle Renee: Your profile is breathtaking. I wonder if you would work in the foreign service for someone like George Bush or John McCain. I'm a writer who speaks a little French and who just completed a novel called ALBERTVILLE. It features a young black woman who grows up in segregated Alabama and who wants to be a writer. She is recruited by a former lover to join the State Department and is assigned to the Congo in 1960, just after that country gains its independence from Belgium. I think the novel would be a perfect read for you. here's the catch. It hasn't been published yet. I just finished it three weeks ago and am in the process of pitching it. My debut novel, very different in nature, came out in April. But that also invloves a charismatic young woman going on an adventure in a distant land. That story, HUNTING THE KING, revolves around Molly O'Dwyer, also multi-lingual. Molly was five years old when she witnessed her mother's death in a fire. She never knew her father. After her mother's death, she was raised on the campus of a Jesuit college in Boston. Now an archaeologist, she is recruited to participate on a dig in war torn Iraq. As a scientist she is compelled to know who or what is buried under the sands of ancient Babylon. As a loyal Catholic, she is scared that what she finds may have devastating consequences for her faith. There is an awesome YouTube book trailer well worth watching to give you an idea of the power of the book. If you get the chance, I hope you'll take the time to watch it and let me know your feelings. Thanks. Peter
