I love teaching a 5th grade boys Sunday School class and am on the puppet team at... more »

    Hi Karen...
I was happy to see your post in historical fiction...(7 book facts)

We've so much in common....The Lord, our love for our father who has passed
and I know Parma....my family is in Mentor.

Although dad has been gone for 6 years....I was his primary care giver and
I still cry at the thought of him

Thanks for a moment of "heart softening"

If you found Still Alice interesting, you might be intrigued by The Bird House (Simon & Schuster) which the Library Journal called “a great title for book clubs, and especially fans of Lisa Genova’s Still Alice.”

Thanks so much – happy to connect on Shelfari if you’re up for it.

Karen, thank you for inviting me as your friend. I dont go here often but I am planning to read more books and join the discussions on this website if I have the time. So sorry to hear about your dad. I cant imagine how you must feel when your dad passed away. I have aging parents too although both are still around. I am hoping to read your books soon, although I am not sure we have it here.

Thank you for visiting my website. I bet writing that book for your dad was a very emotional experience. Did it feel like a healing process by the end of it?

It also made me like and respect him all the more. He wrote about his flaws as well and did'nt paint a perfect picture of himself which made him all the more real.
I hope you enjoy Fireproof, I know my Husband and I both did, we were very moved by it. For me it was kind of a slow not so believable start but about mid way I really got more into it. Also if you get a chance watch the making of stuff, it was pretty good!

Yes, from what you said about writing the book about your dad I gathered that. I wasn't really asking for sympathy about my childhood; I've had 20 years of therapy and pretty much dealt with it. I just meant I had something to write about.

We are both the same age; actually I'm about six months older. I also have two cats who are my babies: Honey Cat and Cream Puff.
I'm really impressed that you have written a book; I've wanted to write one for year, about my childhood, or rather surviving it (It was pretty hellish) but I haven't been able to get moving on it.

I actually did read Violet Dawn. Guess I should update my shelf. I just finished an early copy of Brandilyn's next novel, Exposure. Great!
