Hi--You asked about "Midnight in the Garden" and the comments page didn't come up (every once in a while, this wonderful site goofs!). Anyway, I thought it gave a good sense of the quirkier side of Savannah. I also very much liked his other book, "City of Falling Angels," about Venice after the fire at the Teatro Fenice. I think you might enjoy both books.

    Hi Kylee,

I will be sure to check out the website you recommended in your profile. I hope you would consider adding the book Unscrambled Eggs to your shelf.

    Kind regards

Thanks so much for the Fannie Flagg bibliography! I have read several of her books but have missed a couple.. gotta do something about that.

I read the book first and the reason I didn't like it was one of the major characters that is a transvestite. She/he aggravated the h*** out of me where it got to the point that I couldn't even read it for weeks at a time. In the movie it was fine, but something about her/his dialog, the things that he/she said just really bothered me. I kept thinking of Chuck Berry everytime I read something she/he said. It was so outlandish and "mmhmm, yes sir" all the time. It sounds really weird I know but that is the only way I can explain it.

About the author's Challenge, i don't know about X, but you could try "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. A great read, with the strangest of bedfellows for characters :)

    Happy Reading!
