Kya

My name is Kassandra, but to many I am known as Kya. I love to read and write. I have a deep love of random cute things and adore spending time dreaming up delightful characters for children’s books. But do not let my love of sweet things fool you, my favourite characters are usually those that are dark, complicated and hold a hunger for what is... more »

This book was interesting in part. Some sections really captured my interest and imagination and other seemed to be 'recycled'. However for those who have a great interest in the unknown and the unsolved it may be a treasure for you!

  • Channeling: How to Reach Out to Your Spirit Guides

I found this book to be quite interesting and offered many great tips and advice on how to channel your spirit guides. As with any book of this nature I believe you have to be open to it, but also decide for yourself what method of communication with the spirit world is right for you.

This book really enthralled me, I found myself really taken by the life Josie lead and all the events and tragedies that passed through her life. I had no clue what was going to happen next and many times held my breath hoping in some ways everything could turn back and she would have everything, the perfect way. But life does not often happen in that form and we are forced to travel through the dark canals searching for the light, finding it and not taking it for granted because we have lived in the shadows and know how gruesome and twisted they can be. Sections of the book were very confronting and I found myself a little uncomfortable reading them, but not everything is meant to be pretty and wonderful. I am very glad I decided to read this book and would recommend it to others that may be interested.

I was reading this book as something to pass the time, and while it certainly did that, sometimes I found myself a little bored with how the 'stories' were structured out. I am not saying I did not find the book interesting, I certainly did. I just felt at times it seemed to kind of 'flag out'. But having said that, I think you should decide for yourself if you want to read this book, it does have a great line up of strange unsolved events, and is highly likely to get many minds thinking and exploring the greater possibilities of the world and the universe.

This book to me really seemed to lack any body. Of course it had a somewhat interesting storyline but it seemed to have been misplaced by characters that are not described or explored in enough detail. But I guess in some way that does reflect on youth itself, feeling unknown and not being able to cling to any shred of identity (at least for some). It really didn't connect to me, but I am sure it may be different for the next person that picks it up. Decide for yourself.

The basis behind this book was very good, Chat Rooms are obviously a new way that predators can and do sneak into peoples lives. Especially those of children's. I found the sections in the book written by 'ChatMan' to be utterly sickening. My only gripe about the book would probably be the way it was written, at first I thought it was one person living different lives but realized it was two separate people, but it was aimed for a younger audience 13-16 from what I can gather. It was still interesting none the less, and reminds us that we should be careful.

I had heard many bad things about this book, so my expectations were very low. In some ways I liked it, and in others I found it slightly frustrating. I liked some of the characters and the journeys they had taken, but found the chemistry and setup between others highly annoying. I did find myself engulfed in the storyline and wanting to know what happens, and read it a lot quicker then I expected, so I obviously didn't dislike it that much. It did feel like some parts of the book lacked something, and could have had more body or an extra kick of life, perhaps it was rushed like many people have assumed. I think you have to read the book and decide for yourself if you like it or not.

This book flowed like air, each page could be turned so cleanly and you are captured by every word that is written and every event that transpires in the town of 'Maycomb'. You feel so attached to the characters, and some completely furious with. It feels like a book that certainly must be read many times in a lifetime because it deals with many issues that even in today's world still draw a horrible glow. It certainly now holds a special place in my heart.

While I would not agree with all the dream interpretations themselves, I love the general design of this book. With vibrant, eye catching images, they are a great delight to look at. I love collecting dream interpretation books, and I am glad to have this one in my collection as well. :)

When I started reading this book I was not sure if I was going to like it, or if I would even be able to tell what was going on. The use of Nadsat (or slang) is very strong and it becomes a characteristic of the book itself and blends into the interpretation. On the surface one could take this book as a violent rampage or random words thrown on the pages, but it is definitely a lot more than that.

As someone who is quite often interested in the antagonist or the villain of stories and movies I was very interested to read this work and honestly after reading the whole book I was not disappointed. You must look at the wider picture here, take yourself out of your own world and imagine living in the one Alex does. It captures a harsh reality of youth, wild and out of control, perhaps resembling something of today’s world? That was imagined to be a distant future.

Not everything in the world is pretty and rosy, and even if we don’t want to imagine it’s happening, it is. People are torturing, killing, robbing and raping each other and if we just close our eyes, one day they will never open and the world won’t be a place of humans any more.

This book made you think. Not just about the context of the pages, but about the world and how people are living in it. I would certainly recommend it to anyone else who had an open mind to view a dark place some worry to view.
