    Oh! Me as well! They were the first *good* not-exactly-mainstream fantasy books I read ... and that weren't all about the fantasy elements but used the genre as a platform to talk about other (people) issues. And, well, I always wanted my own personal Yfandes. It's too bad Lackey's later works weren't as well done (I gather she's a bit overpublished due to demand).
