If you're looking for Marla Mason, this is the place to start. I thought Blood Engines was okay, but this book completely satisfied me. Marla's a more relateable character because she actually cares about the city she's in. (She is after all, the city's guardian witch.) And the emotion and psychology that plays into it works really, really well. I'm pretty excited to read the next one!

A funny, bizarre, poignant post-apocalyptic road-trip of a novel with some fascinating ideas about how dreams and memories change and shape our reality. If you like your post-apocalypse weird, this is for you.

Quite the mysterious little story. Haunting, even without a Jack-o-Lantern.

Joe Hill continues to impress with the kick-off of a new comic book series. It's a thrilling read, full of horror and magic and characters we care about.

There's a part of me that wishes this was a stand-alone collection. Still, as the start to a series Hill has laid the foundation for something that could potentially be epic.

Male insecurity? Check. Straddling the literary and genre lines? Check. Sex with strangers? Check.

All the Lethem elements are here that make for a very interesting read. A few of the stories ended just when they seemed to be getting started, others left me scratching my head, and yet. Some of them were gold. Lethem is, as always imminently readable and makes it look so easy.

I particularly loved "This Shape We're In," "Access Fantasy," "Super Goat Man" and "Interview with the Crab." Especially "This Shape We're In." I'm going to be smiling about that story for a long time.

I wouldn't call it great but if you like Lethem's stuff, it's definitely worth checking out.

Never read this before. What stands out the most to me is how little Oliver Twist is actually in the book, as well as how he doesn't really do much. To be honest, both Charley Bates and Nancy seem like more interesting characters.

I thought there'd be a lot more about crime, living on the street, and picking pockets than there was.

That's not to say it's not good. It's just interesting to finally read a story that's had so much influence on our culture.

A satisfying continuation of the story begun in Hammered and in my mind, not as open-ended as the previous book was (although it's clear Bear still has a place to take us).

Easily one of the best adventure stories of all time.

Not quite as good as the first two volumes, but Robert Kirkman continues to keep his epic, thought provoking, filled with humanity and moral ambiguity. I think what's slightly different in this volume is that there's less of a sense of hope at the end of it all.
