Carey sets up a great new horror series filled with terrific atmosphere and memorable characters. It's a very good book, albeit longer than other books in this genre.

Brutal, reserved, and simply one of the best vampire novels ever written.

Nice follow-up to the Last Colony, and Scalzi certainly resolved the things that bothered me in the previous book. It took me a while to get involved in it, but once I did, I couldn't stop reading it.

Astounding collection of a magazine I wish was still around. I don't think there was a story in here I didn't like.

A nice not-quite finish to Scalzi's Old Man's War stories. There were a few things that I wanted to know more about...(Um, what happened to the werewolves) but Scalzi's writing and characters are so much fun, it's easily forgivable.

Mieville's not kidding when he says this book is very different from his Bas Lag and other fantasy stories. Not that that's a bad thing. I love to see writers pushing the boundaries of their style, voice, and form. This book is much more restrained than his others and is put together like a police procedural, with elements of the fantastic to it. I'm still trying to decide whether or not the whodunit resolution is a big letdown or not. (Don't worry, I won't spoil any of it for you.)

To a degree, he did a great job at sleight of hand, yet I almost wish the resolution had been closer to what he seemed to alluding to.

Steampunky Space Opera with a Carribean flavor. Thoroughly enjoyable. I'm looking forward to reading Buckell's other novels soon.

Ragnarok's going down in SoCal and all wandering god Hermod wants to do is score a cup of coffee and a bagel while hanging around with his dog. Unlike other Norse gods, Hermod doesn't know what will happen to him during/after Ragnarok, and he's okay with that. Then he meets a rogue Valkryie named Mist who wants to go back to Hel with him, save a couple of people who shouldn't have died, and stop Ragnarok from ever happening. Of course, that's impossible. So why not try?

A very fun story about coping with the end of the world.

An incredible collection showcasing some of Lethem's more speculative short fiction. Stories like the Happy Man, Light and Sufferer, and the Hardened Criminals are going to be with me for a while. And Vanilla Dunk was way more fun than a story about basketball set in the future has any right to be. Honestly, reading it made me wish Lethem would let himself go and write a new SF novel.
