Books for Change is a publishing and distribution initiative set up to support the communication needs of civil society organisations and development sector in India.
It aims to bring together the enormous resources and leadership that exist in this area by communicating facts, perceptions and possibilities to do with social change as well as share information relevant to the change process.
The organization headquartered in Bangalore was started as a project by Action Aid, a World famous NGO working to alleviate poverty world wide.
The organization aims to publish, market and distribute books and other materials relevant to the needs of Development professionals and academics studying the developmental needs and changes in the society.
· Books for Change is also distributing MARG.MARG (www.marg-art.org)founded by Mulk Raj Anand,is India’s premier publisher of books and magazines on the art and history of India and its neighbouring countries and has been publishing since 1946. MARG is a division of the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), a public charitable trust formed principally to promote a better understanding and appreciation of India’s rich cultural heritage.
· The titles published have over the years covered an exhaustive spectrum of subjects and have formed a unique and valuable repository of data and analyses of Indian and related art.
· MARG publishes as part of its series of volumes, four quarterly magazines a year and four hardbound books. Marg has also published several stand-alone titles, recent titles being In and Around Old Goa (2004), The Story of Asia’s Lions (2005) a history of the species, and Mills for Sale: The Way Ahead (2006), a reminder of what Mumbai has lost and what needs to be done to avoid such monumental blunders in future.
· Apart from publishing magazines and books, MARG also occasionally produces books, guides, and catalogues for other organizations
