In a moment of pique and frustration Virginia wrote an open letter to Oprah, and shared it with a few writer friends who are going through the same thing we are. Now the letter has started to go viral--getting a lot of repostings and inclusions in blogs, newsletters and on Facebook, so in case you hadn't seen it, we wanted to share our plight, the plight of many black authors with you, readers who have supported us all these years. http://twomindsfull.blogspot.com.

In reality Oprah is just a metaphor--a name that might get this subject the attention it deserves. Because when you have a publication like Library Journal listing their 31 Best Books of 2009 http://ow.ly/HDU7 and the "genre" fiction list includes Street Lit --8 books but no category for contemporary African American writers, we are really in trouble.

Congrats on your novel. I look forward to reading it. I start my vacation today and I will be off for the month of August. So I plan to rest, relax, and read. I will look into Sherri Lewis's novel. Take care and talk with you soon.

A pleasure to meet you here on Shelfari, as I try to stop here often and look for new readers that are interested in self help positive books. In the world we live in today we need to feed the brain more positive than the negative and in hope that this place opens up avenues and different venues for unheard of talent such as mine. http://redroom.com/member/alejapoet

I used to be that way with songwriting. I couldnt have a conversation cause in the middle of the convo the person would say something that sound like a good title for a song, and i would start writing lyrics. Mr. H.I.V. is available exclusively on amazon.com
