I am 42 years old, married for 24 years and have two grown kids (both girls). Besides reading I love to run, brew beer and knit. I know, and odd combination!

    Just dropping by to say "hello". Sorry I haven't had more time to spend here in Shelfari. Hope you've been reading some great books!

    Thanks for the advice on the "Knitting Club" -- based on the title, I was expecting something on the lighter side, so I think I'll skip it. She could use a pick me up.

    It's so exciting to hear that you've tried making cheese and bread. I haven't tried beer yet, but I think I'll try wine. My family loves homemade bread. Whenever I make it, it's all gone in one meal, and a bread machine makes it so easy.

    Just noticed that you read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle -- I loved that book! We've been living a lot like that for six years now, and it was great to read about someone else doing it. Makes me feel less weird! If you liked the book, you might like my blog, http://antiquityoaks.blogspot.com

    Also, my oldest daughter knits, and I had thought about buying her "The Friday Night Knitting Club." I noticed you gave it only three stars and was wondering why. Should I skip it?

    hi
    the Paradox Of Our Age

    We have bigger houses but smaller families;

    more conveniences, but less time.

    We have more degrees but less sense;

    more knowledge but less judgment;

    more experts, but more problems;

    more medicines but less healthiness.

    We’ve been all the way to the moon and back,

    but have trouble in crossing the street to meet our new neighbour.

    We built more computers to hold more copies than ever,

    But have less real communication;

    We have become long on quantity,

    but short on quality.

    These are times of fast foods but slow digestion;

    Tall mean but short characters;

    Steep profits but shallow relationships.

    It’s a time when there is much in the window

    But nothing in the room.
