The Mermaid Chair...yes a disappointment, I started it but it didn't hold my interest, I probably cleared it out to the book exchange. My daughter just read, "Out of My Mind" and it is another really great read. I really enjoy the quick read. This one's about a girl who cannot move or speak except through a touchboard, but she is fully alert, like Steven Hawking.

I see you loved Ida B - me too. It was a Florida Sunshine State book last year. Another from that list that I really loved was The Girl who could Fly. I was amazed at how rich some of the kid lit can be.

Maybe I already mentioned that it's my favorite of anything I've written. If so, sorry to repeat myself. Not sure why, I just have a sort of "heart connection" with it.

Yes, Ayn Rand does have very unusual and interesting ideas. Have you read any of her other books? Several members of Shelfari responded to my "should I read this" question with the recommendation that I read Fountainhead before Altas Shrugged.

I was totally hooked on "Atlas Shrugged" after the first chapter. Thank you for your recommendation to read it. It was an exceptional book. Can't say I agreed or liked everything Rand presented, but it certainly makes one think.
