Chaska (formerly Kitty Blu)

As you see from the list of books I have read in the past few months, I am an artist on a spiritual journey.

This journey began a long time ago, and though I used to believe that becoming my deceased husband's caregiver "interfered" with my spiritual path, I now know that this isn't true. Great pain can be a great teaching tool if one... more »

I was looking at your photo. When did you go to Peru? My husband and I finally went last month, after dreaming of visiting there for years. Just for fun I reread a Newbery YA book, Secret of the Andes, and enjoyed it lots.

Are you on Facebook? I've got my albums there.
When you went to Machu Picchu, did you do the Inka Trail? or you just went to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu? And did you go to the temple of the moon?

    Hi Chaska,

Thank you for accepting my friendship request... and thank you also for accepting me on your spiritual traveller group. I was actually kicked about your photo from Machu Picchu. I have a similar one taken from exactly the same place last year.

About Slumdog Millionaire... I haven't seen the movie, nor am I gong to see it... It may be a right portrayal of the slum life, but I would not say its the exact portrayal. I'd like to know though why most people abroad like it so much? Most Indians have very mixed feelings about the subject.

Its hyped a lot by the media... If you're the spiritual seeker, I'd recommend seeing "Benaras - A Mystic Love Story" - I've seen it over and over again many times... and have never tired of it. The message in it is something else altogether.

    More later.

    regards
    Asavari.

I am so sorry about kitty Blu. It's hard losing a beloved pet. Sometimes I have trouble dealing with people too, but since my brother just died in November, I am trying to remember to cherish those in my life because we just never know how much time we have. Every morning in my meditation I say "I am love, so all I can give is love". Most days it works out that way, but occassionally I give other things besides love, lol.
    Hugs,
    Cheryl

CHASKA!!! My kindred spirit friend!!! As for Joan Didion's book, I felt sometimes as if I was intruding into her mind and soul since the experience is one I can't identify. However, there were feelings she expressed in her book that I too had felt when my first marriage of 25 years dissolved; it said a divorce is like a death. I went back to re-read my journals from that time period and there they were, sometimes using identical words I know you too have gone through a similar experience, but your experience was not the same as hers. Maybe writing this book was her "Machu Pichu." It definiately was her way of cleansing and moving on, which is something I too will have to do in time...my father is dying and I'm so full of sadness, I find myself breathless at times. At this point, I pray for a quiet death.

    Abrazos,
    Georgina

Yes it is. I don't mind small amounts of soy - in fact it's in so many products you almost can't buy a packaged food that doesn't have some. The real harm from soy comes from the more large scale consumption, such as drinking soy milk, eating tofu and soy powder protein mixes. It you know anyone with an infant, warn them away from soy formulas - they are deadly to babies - can cause brain damage and accumulation of heavy metals. In adults, soy creates thyroid problems, hormonal imbalance and higher risk of breast and prostate cancer (I am a prostate cancer survivor so I keep up on anything related to that condition). Amazingly, doctors in this country, even some naturopaths, still buy into the "health food" mega-marketing campaign that was launched a couple decades ago. Ask any 10 people if soy is a health food, and at least 8 will say yes.

Not true. An example is Hershey bars - very little cacao in them - lots of fillers, soy, vegetable oils, sugars. When the cacao is heat processed it loses around 80% of the flavonols - then the sugar and chemical additives kill what is left. There is also a vast difference in the quality of the cacao beans used by different manufacturers for different products.

Hi there Chaska - Kitty Blue is indeed a cutie. I will check out your site. Politics stresses me too - just took me a long time to leave it - I have worked in campaigns for 40 years. Now I am writing books and selling Healthy Chocolate - making lots of friends, feeling my fountainhead of creativity finally opened, and having lots of fun.

OK, I'm confused (as usual). We don't seem to have any groups in common; how in the world of Shelfari did you stumble across this simple Rabbi?

Regardless, it is always good to have another friend! Thanks for the invitation!

Bless you Miss Kitty. I will be on fairly regularly till the
end of the month and then probably once a day. I am going

I must give it that time.

    Hello back to you~
Yes I know many have resorted to the solitude life instead of caretaking, although I suspect we all go through a certain process in our transformation. Me? Being a therapist, I have always wanted to help those in the process of their transformations..
I'm sorry it took me so long to respond to your letter, but I've been healing from a surgery I recently had.
Take care and I wish you a wonderfully yummy enlightening day.
