Am a graduate in medicine, spent 35 years in the pharmaceutical industry with various multinational companies, like to read and travel. I own over 90% of the books on my shelves, the remaining percentage are with friends who forgot to return them. They also represent a birdseye view of the titles I have as putting too many of a given writer would hamper an overview. Libraries are in short supply here and one has no choice but to acquire your reading material. Some of you may notice that it appears my shelf was built rather haphazardly, this is because I had to check my bookshelves all over the house including the attic to refresh my memory on what I accumulated over the years.
This has resulted in some surprises, pleasant when unearthing forgotten treasures, unpleasant when finding disintegrating remains of "good friends".
So since I joined Shelfari, the germ of a restoration effort has taken root.
2 book racks are in the make and I could be banished to the couch as my better half is not exactly ecstatic about my plans.
Besides reading I love to sing (mostly songs from the 60's , country and American standards), watch movies, photography, a bit of amateur radio and target shooting. A work-related hobby is Neuroscience, in particular the issue of neuroprotection in ischemic brain disease and trauma. I can communicate in Dutch and English.
Guess this makes me a bit of an oddball, but hey, thats the way the cookie crumbled.
