I am a reader. Fiction is my pleasure and my current obsession is urban fantasy aka dark fantasy. I enjoy mystery and science fiction.
If you are looking for a new friend, but dont read a lot of the same things I do, then we wont have much to talk about.
If you have more friends than books on your shelf, I am probably not your best...more »

Oh we are so much alike in many ways. I agree about the number of friends larger than the bookshelf. Or the bookshelf that is unbelievably long in the multi-10,000s (there are couple) or those who are members of ALL the groups! whew - no one has that kind of time!

And you like libraries! Our library is part of a system that currenly has 13 members and branches. We are a separate municipal library rather than a branch but a full member of the system. Well, that probably makes no sense at all - but but we, too, ship books between libraries. Phoenix has a great reputation in the library world.

What attracts you about the children's books at the libraries? I started out as a volunteer in the school library, and when hired at a small public library, I was put in charge of the summer reading program. This was before I got my MLS. I have two sons who grew up with me reading to them so I was exposed to lots of good children's lit. Now my grandsons know they can get me to read to them when we spend time together.

Charlaine Harris - I've only read one of her series but am tempted by the others - I have some on them on my TBR and brought one of them home from the library just the other day. I don't get HBO but those shows eventually show up on CD and/or another independent station so I'll watch out for it.

One of the bad things about this site is that I love jumping around and finding people of similar interests and checking out their shelves, getting ideas, communicating and ITS CUTTING INTO MY READING TIME. So I have to learn how to get a balance going. Right now I'm reading Evanovich - Fearless Fourteen and I have to have it done by Monday! So TTFN and I'll be seeing you around.

I started to read the note you sent me with the invitation for friendship and it was cut off because it came to the end of the box. Since I'd already decided that I would accept, I clicked the "accept" button expecting to read the rest of your note - it disappeared! If you still have it, how about cutting and pasting back to me? I've looked all over my pages and can't find the original - isn't that weird! I'm going to go back and look some more but I feel like I just had something nice just taken away :-(

Hi Kimmer, I stumbled on your page because of your post to Jennifer about getting to the library (I'm a librarian and that always makes me sit up and take notice). I thought I'd look to see what we have in common and didn't expect much because you state that you like mostly fantasy. Was I ever surprised to see that we have 90 books in common! Maybe I like fantasy more than I thought. I also noticed that you have Enchanted, Inc and the others in the series on your shelf too. I love Enchanted, Inc which I read based on some book reviews (I choose a lot of the fiction for our public library) and I really enjoyed it; I've read all but Don't Hex with Texas - I'm waiting for it to come back to the library - its on loan to someone else! I've recommended it to several people at home and on Shelfari and also to the Beach group - they chose it as the book for July!

My son and my husband both like fantasy so I do dabble in it once in awhile and I do like tv shows with fantasy like The Dresden files. I think I might like to read that series but my TBR shelf is so huge!

I also noticed that you have Wraith on your shelf. I put that on my TBR based on a good book review too. I notice that you gave it four stars so I guess you like it.

Just wanted to say hi - see you around.

Hi Kimmer! Actually we did have a numbers bonus early in the Alphabet Soup challenge, and that did include the numeric symbol or spelling the number out. So far I haven't repeated a bonus in the challenges (except for the regular features like bookrobics and incorporating other group reads), so I hadn't planned on including numbers again this month or next month. But after that? It's certainly possible.

Let me think about it, but when you know you will be going to the BookKeeper, let me know and maybe we can meet. That would be cool and I can meet your friend, too, if that's cool.
Have you been here before? And for how long? Because there's Boulder to see with a good locally owned bookstore on Pearl Street along with the Boulder Artists' Co-op, and many other amazing shops. That's where I go to shop for the most part. If you like tea, Celestial Seasonings has their place up in Boulder, Crocs are located in Niwot, near Boulder. Colorado Springs is full of cool places, Garden of the Gods, etc. I like Old Colorado City near there, too.

I believe that Fearless Fourteen comes out around June 24th or so. I can pretty much guarantee that we'll get together around that time (probably a midge after) and on a weekend. When are you getting together with your sisters? BTW: we sometimes find that it's easiest to get together in two's and three's whenever our schedules allow. The bigger the group, the more difficult it is to get our schedules to sync.

Hi Kimmer, nice to meet you. Which comment (in Paranormal Mystery) were you talking about? The one about book covers?

We seem to have a whole lot of books in common, don't we. :D

Kimmer: Thanks for that. I do shy away from most romance, but if she's fun then I will likely give her a try. I just know from past reading of folks like Nora Roberts, who I don't really overly enjoy, but I adore her as JD Robb. I just really like paranormal and mystery more so than romance.
