I love fantasy books, some favorite authors are George R.R. Martin , Ursula K. LeGuin, Lois McMaster Bujold to name a few. Urban Fantasy authors would be Patricia Briggs & I also like Terry Practchett's twisted world.
Some of my favorite books are YA books, aka Phillip Pullmans His Dark Material, Jonathan Stroud, Eoin Colfer & Scott Westerfeld's Uglies trilogy was good too. The Book Thief was heartwrenchingly good.
I like a variety of books. i do not like books that are predictable, or written the same as the LAST book just different names, therefore there are certain authors that I just do not read anymore... This includes Jodi Picoult and James Patterson are really irritating . If the writing style is too predictable i just lose interest, I guess that is why i read so many genres. I do not like most chic lit either. I do NOT like chic lit , Did I say I do not like chic lit, lol My book club picks chic lit on occasion and i used to try to read it... now i just skip it. That means you Jennifer Weiner and Laura Lippman. ugh ! Not for me.
I like books that challenge you and make you think. Books that are written on multiple levels, not formula books. I hate wasting my time on a book that has no meaning or is poorly written, I almost always finish a book I start with only a few exceptions over the years, That is why I always reseach a book before choosing to read it.
