    Kathe,
Good morning and thanks for being a Shelfari friend. Its an honor to meet you, and I look forward to sharing ideas, comments and suggestions about books and literacy. My work schedule is a little crazy the last few years, but I always manage to skim through a book every day or two - and is the joy in my life, besides my family and overseas friends. Take care and perhaps we can meet when I am speaking in Oceanside on February 20, AT 2 pm.

Thanks for the tip. I'll add 3 cups of Tea to my need to read list, and chat with ya when I've finished it. I'm about 70/30 writing/reading books right now, in a "zone" with two pet novel projects. It all evens out with me, I have lapses in inspirational periods where the percentage switches for more refueling, insight and inspiration. How 'bout you? are an even keel 50/50 gal, or do you go on binges like me?

    Dear Kathe, Love:

As a Shelfari friend, I thought I'd pass on to you a quiz I'm using to promote my new book, the 2nd in the HowToDoItFrugally Series of books for writers after the award-winning The Frugal Book Promoter is a must for writers and includes lots of good stuff important for any writer to know. It is, ta da! The Frugal Editor: Put Your Best Book Forward to Avoid Humiliation and Ensure Success.

Check Your Sell-Your-Book Expertise with Carolyn's Quiz

Every writer should know the answer to these or know how to find out :

    1. What is the rule posted by most agents and publishers I can break in order to sell my book faster?
    2. How can a style sheet help me edit my book or work better with my editor?
    3. Why do I need to know about indexing?
    4. How can I corral Word's Spell Checker to help rather than hinder my editing process?
    5. Why is editing important to getting a publisher or an agent when my publisher's editor will help me with that anyway?
    6. Why should I rarely send out a cover letter rather than a query letter?
    7. Why should I avoid using italics for internal dialogue? How do you avoid using them for internal dialogue?
    8. What perfectly natural and grammar-perfect thing should I avoid telling an agent?
    9. How can I turn adverbs that slow my narrative into metaphors?
    10. How can I purge my copy of passive constructions using a computer?
    11. How can code words in my document help avoid humiliation?
    12. How do I avoid superfluous quotation marks that annoy agents and editors?

If you don't know the answers to most every one of these 12 questions without peeking you are sure to benefit from the newly released

    Hi Kathe,
I think what Ying Chang saying is just one side of coin... the other side is that friends care for you, love you, supports in dangerous situation, can give good advice and save ourself ... in many cases friensdhip turns to life partnership(marriage) also. Recently i had this observation, when i got one accident, before my relatives come and saves me, my close friends did it.... admitted in hospital. Ofcourse it wasn't possible for my relatives to reach me in so short time ... since they are far away from me... But the point is that being friends near by in any situation is always good...some time we can share many thoughts with them which we can't with our relatives, i have seen people giving life for friendship... I always try to see the bring and strong side of everything..... well this is a good point for discussion... keep it live.. and make more friends... what do you say ? BTW visited your site ... its nice and will kepp in touch...
