Yes Pratish is my first name. It is derived from Sanskrit(Ancient Indian Classical Language, much like greek or latin), although my mother tongue is 'Marathi'(in India, no matter what ur mother tongue may be, ur name will almost always have a Sanskrit root, provided u r a hindu).
Prati is a suffix for Image, or Like
    Ish means God
roughly the meaning is derived as Image of God, or In the Image of God, or Like God(Angelic, Holy, Divine etc.)

    How about ur name?

    Take care, Pratish

Oh I realized I didn't talk about the other half of my parents--as to my dad--his view of me is that I'm an utter failure. Only people who can't hack it in the real world are teachers.

I don't know if his bitterness towards teachers stems from the fact that my mom was one (and her mom before her too) or whether something happened that caused his ill-will.

But...as my grandmother says---every single person wouldn't have gotten to where they were out without teachers along the way!!!!

Of course, like most things he doesn't see eye to eye on that---he thinks that teachers are lazy, don't do "nothing," anybody could do their job, and are con-artists/rip-offs (since they bilk taxpayers out of their/his hard earned money) to pay for the education of everybody when we don't teach them anything anyways.

The pearls (NOT) of wisdom uttered by one of America's corporate businessman.

No wonder our society has such problems.

So as they say...there you have it folks!!!

Well thank you so much. If it wasn't for my mom I probably could not have made it. I don't know how she endured through my trying to read days--uttering tttttt--ehhhh----tttt hhh eeee ----tttthhhhheeee -the and you know how many of those appear on a page in a kids book and at every one of them I would have to go through the same thing. It's a wonder she had any hair left.

Although my son hasn't caught the love of reading bug yet---he still is amazing. Today we were out for lunch and I was reading a book on Tigers and he came over, sat beside me, and was reading about a paragraph a page out-loud. Some of the words weren't easy and he figured out all, but one!!!!

Having a variety of interests is both a blessing and a curse. It never leaves for a dull moment, but it doesn't seem you can ever get to everything that you want to do.

My experience with ham radio came in college. I spent a portion of a summer in Brazil. The guy I was staying with utilized ham radio to communicate back to the US since their was only one phone in the entire town he lived in and it was sporadic at best if it worked. So... we used it to make hook-ups, then have the ham radio operator make a connection to a phone operator who would then call my parents on a collect call to patch it through. That was the neatiest thing. I vowed that someday I would provide a similar sort of help to others.

Totally unrelated to that event, my university the following school year started a ham radio group/club. I earned my license from them. However, upon graduation I never did anything with it. I allowed the license to lapse. Plus I have not had the money to be able to buy any sort of equipment. However, I have begun to study to try to get my license again and since the morse code requirements have been eliminated (yahoo!!!) I am hoping to get a higher degree of license than what I had before. The next daunting task after that is to get equipment--but I'll cross that bridge at some point when I get to it.

As to hanging on to things---oh my gosh--if you go to my grandmother's house you should see all the things that are in antique stores today!!!! She has rolls and rolls and rolls of toilet paper coming out the wazoo. There's no telling what all we will find and have to clean out one day.

I love all the information that I have learned over the course of time through reading. You must have a lot of fun researching for your historically based books.

    History is so awesome.

    Thanks so much Keta
    Rocky

Are you published? I'd love to read something of yours. How long have you been writing? Ops. I just looked up your name. And I'm going to go back and read some of your writing. I've alwasy been a fan of paranormal. I also love Native American stuff. Guess that comes from the blood. I have alot of Native American on both sides of my family...although if you seen me you wouldn't believe it for a second. I took after my father in looks...Irish.

When I glanced at your other sites..one said you were from the midwest. I was born and raised in the midwest. My family moved down south a few years back. I Love the south but I've got to admit I sure do get home sick alot. Guess I'll just always be that farm girl at heart.

I like J.R. Wards stuff but you really do have to start at the first one. I'm not a writer, just a eager reader. I've thrown around the idea of writing in the past but to be honest I just don't know where I'd find the time unless I gave up a little reading and that isn't going to happen:)

    Have a good one.
    Laura

I seen on a quick glance at one of your sites, that your from the midwest. I was born and raised in the midwest. My family recently moved down south
